This is a wonderful book, and the reason that I am sure (besides my own experience reading it...) is that my 11 year old son actually likes it (and he is a hard sell!). We are homeschooling this year and have had challenges finding activities that he is motivated to do on his own, but when I tell him that he can work on the Evergreen Twins, he gets really excited about it and will work joyfully for hours. It also offers the opportunity for us to talk about environmental issues together with sounding "preachy". The book even weaves in the humor of the teenage experience of sustainability issues. Highly recommended!

My 6 and 9 year old boys thoroughly enjoy Rick Reynold's books, The EverGreen Twins Activity Book: 40+ Eco-Activities, Games, and Outdoor Adventures, and the water activity book: Marco the Molecule: Water Adventure and Activity Book! They fight over them, and I am happy (of course) to see them fighting over an EDUCATIONAL WORKBOOK!! My 6 year old, Joshua, and I got a chance to personally meet the author, Rick Reynolds M.S.Ed., at the VegFest2012. Mr. Reynolds is an excellent educator, and a natural at teaching children about the environment around us. His knowledge and genuine admiration of the outdoors makes my little ones so curious about the world we live in. Joshua and his older brother, Julian, spent most of the evening last night working on Mr. Reynolds' activity books. There's nothing like watching their little minds absorb knowledge. They become curious about what we expose them to. THANK YOU for creating these wonderful books!!!

I just purchased the book recently, and we've already had such a fun time reading the stories and coloring the pages. My boys (ages 4 and 2-1/2) really enjoyed the "Local Field Guide" section. With the warm weather this week we've been able to go outside and catch a few beetles and chase some robins and geese. Then we sat down together and talked about these animals (I did the writing) and my oldest drew the pictures in the book. The book presents great educational ideas and teaching moments for us to do together as a family. I have nothing but praises for the book, and we're looking forward to the next chapters. I think it's something that will grow with our children and we'll use for many years.

I'm an education coordinator for a non-profit organization that provides environmental education and interpretation throughout the Portland, OR metropolitan region. We use this book as an aid in developing programs, but also as a way to make sure our programs can connect back to people's lives. This book is such an amazing resource because it provides simple and accessible ways to approach nature, environmental issues, and sustainability. If you're interested in providing top notch environmentally oriented experiences for you kids, this book is definitely for you!
