2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing performance, March 13, 2009
By
This review is from: Everlite Solar Charged Headlamp (Sports)
I was excited to receive this product, as it seemed to have good reviews.

I've had it about a month now and am not that thrilled with it. The headlamp is not that strong, which is okay ifyou are using it only for close things. However, when using it while backpacking and walking around the campsite, there was little to no useful light after about 15-20 feet.

Secondly, the charge seems to die real quick. I charged it fully one day, and several days later, after not having charged it at all, nor having used it at all, the battery held absolutely no charge. The light wouldn't even turn on. Maybe these kinds of batteries are different than regular rechargeables, but I've never had a rechargeable AA battery lose its complete charge in only a matter of days.

I wish I had returned this. For my purposes, backpacking/hiking/camping, a regular good quality headlamp with one time use batteries should provide enough light for the duration of the trip before I need to change them. And in the chance that my trip is a long one, like a week, carrying a second set of small batteries will weigh hardly any more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Light from the heavens, August 4, 2008
This review is from: Everlite Solar Charged Headlamp (Sports)
Comfortable, rechargeable with sunlight, it even has a setting to turn on automatically with darkness. Overkill? Maybe. but the bottom line is never skimp on light. The light is great for outdoor and everyday use, not the brightest headlamp out there but well worth the money.

1.0 out of 5 stars Terribly Disappointing, June 19, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Everlite Solar Charged Headlamp (Sports)
I'm really disappointed to have to be writing this review, because I honestly liked this product the first time I saw it in a local shop, and I wanted it to be great. Problems:

1. Out of the box, the piece for adjusting the angle of the light didn't work. The light always just hung at its lowest arc.

2. My friend and I both charged our headlamps for a full two days; we went night hiking and they didn't even last the two HOURS we were hiking. (Both did not work as advertised.)

3. Mine stopped working entirely after less than two months of occasional use.

Don't buy this. I'm hopeful some other keen entrepreneur will create a solar headlamp of better quality in the near future, or that Everlite will learn from its marketing mistakes.
