5.0 out of 5 stars Light from the heavens
Comfortable, rechargeable with sunlight, it even has a setting to turn on automatically with darkness. Overkill? Maybe. but the bottom line is never skimp on light. The light is great for outdoor and everyday use, not the brightest headlamp out there but well worth the money.

I was excited to receive this product, as it seemed to have good reviews.

I've had it about a month now and am not that thrilled with it. The headlamp is not that strong, which is okay ifyou are using it only for close things. However, when using it while backpacking and walking around the campsite, there was little to no useful light after about 15-20 feet.

Secondly, the charge seems to die real quick. I charged it fully one day, and several days later, after not having charged it at all, nor having used it at all, the battery held absolutely no charge. The light wouldn't even turn on. Maybe these kinds of batteries are different than regular rechargeables, but I've never had a rechargeable AA battery lose its complete charge in only a matter of days.

I wish I had returned this. For my purposes, backpacking/hiking/camping, a regular good quality headlamp with one time use batteries should provide enough light for the duration of the trip before I need to change them. And in the chance that my trip is a long one, like a week, carrying a second set of small batteries will weigh hardly any more.

1.0 out of 5 stars Terribly Disappointing, June 19, 2010

I'm really disappointed to have to be writing this review, because I honestly liked this product the first time I saw it in a local shop, and I wanted it to be great. Problems:

1. Out of the box, the piece for adjusting the angle of the light didn't work. The light always just hung at its lowest arc.

2. My friend and I both charged our headlamps for a full two days; we went night hiking and they didn't even last the two HOURS we were hiking. (Both did not work as advertised.)

3. Mine stopped working entirely after less than two months of occasional use.

Don't buy this. I'm hopeful some other keen entrepreneur will create a solar headlamp of better quality in the near future, or that Everlite will learn from its marketing mistakes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Solar Headlamp Charges My Cell Phone, January 21, 2008

This solar-powered LED Headlamp is pretty cool. Just a few minutes in sunlight and the LED come on right away, even if the battery is totally exhausted when you start. The really cool thing was charging my cell phone using their 12V converter plugged into the headlamp and simply plugging my car charger into the converter. Ths green product is a must for anyone who might not want to mess with changing batteries.

5.0 out of 5 stars Glad I bought this..., October 19, 2009

I bought this because it made sense to me. I camp quite a bit and am an outdoorsmen. Like anyone else, I hate it when my batteries die and out of laziness don't replace my batteries even when I know they are dying. Anyway, the light works great. It's bright and the charger recharges the light with no problem. I bought the cell phone converter and it charged my cell phone up. I wasn't able to charge my cell phone long enough to get a full charge, but I got just under 3/4 of a charge with it. Overall, I'm happy and am excited to see where this company goes next.

1.0 out of 5 stars failed very quickly, September 18, 2009

bought the solar panel.the cig charger.the wall charger.
everything.
high hopes were dashed when i tried to use it in my most dire situation.
the little red button on top with all its "functions" FAILED
should be replaced with a steady stream of light when you need it only
just like the rest of the cool headlights (REI)?
you guys have a good idea with the solar charging thing
thats why i bought it
do a one function only only bright as hell top of the line led light
made out of stainless steel with a mercury switch and a namaste solar panel
then i might do business with you again
your ad was great
the headlamp light itself was good enough
but
it did fail at a crucial time
the little red button with all the "functions" was the culprit
i like "on" "off" and reliability
pure function for the working man
come on you guys
build us a good one we can count on
some of us have to look over big trucks in the morning before we hit the road
and its getting darker in the morning
