5.0 out of 5 stars Got EQ2? March 9, 2011
Platform for Display:PC
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
This is one of the better games that few seem to know about.

I'm a big fan of the fantasy genre MMO and over the past years this has become my game of choice for that. I've played other of the genre MMOs to include WOW, LOTRO, and Vanguard. In all fairness to them they are very good in their own ways.

This latest expansion is an all in one release meaning you get the base game and all 7 expansion in one release. What a great chance to try the game out.

Destiny of Velious in my opinion is the best expansion to date. A word of warning is that the expansion itself is aimed at max level players. If your a longtime EQ2 player, this is a no brainer. If your a new player just realize that buying this expansion does give you the entire game, it may be awhile before you actually get to experience the newest content.

So what is great about EQ2 and what is specifically great about this expansion?

1. EQ2 is great because it is one of the deepest, most detailed, most difficult and expansive games you'll ever find. Over time it is probably true that they have made the game easier, probably to compete more with games such as WOW who seem to woo the masses. The game seems to have alot of everything for most play styles. Expansive number of races and classes..Literally thousands of quests, solo content, group content, 12 man raid content, 24 man raid content, recently introduced Public Quests where just showing up in a specific location involves you in an epic battle that you contribute too.

Hundreds and Hundreds of collection quests, detailed tradeskilling, special events, and an achievement system that for people who want to do it all, will both drive you nutty and keep you trying harder.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Expansion to a Great Game June 28, 2011
Platform for Display:PC Download|Verified Purchase
This is by far my favorite expansion for the Everquest 2 franchise. It added tons of new content for both upper and lower leveled characters. They finally created a streamline leveling process for both adventuring and tradeskill classes, to take them from newbie to maxed character!

The introduction of the flying mounts is long overdue, and makes sight seeing in your favorite zones all the more memorable. My only gripe about this introduction, is they made it for characters level 85 and up, only. This is a horrible decision that I see being changed in the future; why wait until your character is almost maxed before allowing them to use it? Makes no sense!

Other than that, great expansion. Great game. For anything who wants a MMO experience that is not entirely watered down and geared towards the non-gamer, Everquest 2 is the perfect choice!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great game, terrible packaging! January 13, 2012

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
This is the umpteeth expansion for EverQuest II, which is still doing well some 7 years after launch. The game has recently gone "Free To Play" (with restrictions, of course) so now is a great time to jump in and check things out, or come back if you used to play. The servers are well populated, and both DoV and Age of Discovery, the latest expansion, have been full of great features and content. Unlike some other MMOs that fell by the wayside, EQ2 is going strong, and is likely to keep at it for some time.

All that said, I'm extremely disappointed in the shipping materials Amazon used for my purchase. When it arrived, the box (which is about 2" deep) was crammed into an envelope-like folder that was clearly made to hold small, thin books. The entire box was crushed, and the disks were messed up so much I couldn't even get it to install. When they shipped me a replacement, it was in the EXACT SAME shipping "box", but this time around the disks were readable. I was really disappointed, but hey, at least it worked the second time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Now the Best by far October 26, 2011
Platform for Display:PC Download|Verified Purchase
I played The origanal Everquest for years. When Everquest 2 came out I tried it, it was as good as most games out there but was not as good as the original. I played World of warcraft for a couple years and finally got bored with it. I came back to Everquest 2 in 2011, I was amazed. This is by far the best MMORPG available. The early bad reviews did not help, but it is now the top of the heap. It is a shame more people are not giving this game a fair chance.

Bored with your current Role Play Game ? Get this game, Learn it and play it awhile, You will love it. The best thing is, if you do not have a ton of time to devote to the game, you can play solo and never run out of something interesting to do. Most classes can solo if you take your time and play smart.

If you are inexperienced with computer games or have a computer with poor performance then this game may not be for you.
