GEORGE HARRISON STANDS TOPS ON EVEREST SOUNDTRACK!,
By Jay Siekierski (STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Everest: Soundtrack From The IMAX Film Experience (Audio CD)
Everest Soundtrack (Including The Music Of George Harrison)/ARK 21 is a CD that demands your attention. This is the soundtrack music to the IMAX Film Experience/MacGillivary Freeman Film. The original orchestrated film music score & arrangements are by Steve Wood & Daniel May and is absolutely beautiful, hypnotic & spiritually uplifting. But! The big surprise is that a number of ex-Beatle George Harrison's music is incorporated and interwoven magically into the other music. George's song "Life Itself" is the silver thread throughout a number of the soundtrack's music. George is not performing new guitar tracks or new variations of his past works, samples are used as with "This Is Love". The musician's ensemble perform various Harrison songs that are spun in their own golden beauty against marvelous orchestrations. My Fave? "Life Itself" & the stunning orchestrated/band ensemble's "Here Comes The Sun" is breathtaking! Need fresh music to clear your mind or meditate to? Get this CD. A+

This will be one of your favorite CDs!,
By Robert the Wizard (rhw@ix.netcom.com) (Los Angeles, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Everest: Soundtrack From The IMAX Film Experience (Audio CD)
This work offers one of the most remarkable musical soundscapes ever created. The soundtrack thematically features the music of George Harrison ("All Things Must Pass," "Here Comes The Sun," "Give Me Love," and others) woven together in a symphonic tapestry. The brilliant score of Steve Wood and Daniel May includes chanting monks, the Northwest Sinfonia, the memorable Uilleann pipes of Eric Rigler (featured on the "Titanic" soundtrack) and the multidimensional flute offerings of Richard Hardy. (It is rumoured that George Harrison contributed his guitar genius on some sections.) This CD will appeal to everyone who wants a powerful journey to a deeper space in a distant land. This music leaves you feeling great!

Original soundtrack the IMAX motion picture which, once I saw it, immediately prompted me to buy the CD. The score by Steve Wood and Daniel May plus arrangements of the music of George Harrison, gives the film just the right emotional backdrop. From exotic Asian instrumentals and the chants of Buddhist monks to uplifting segments by the full orchestra, this CD never fails to takes my breath away. I listen to it every day on my way to work!

Great Mood Music,

This review is from: Everest: Soundtrack From The IMAX Film Experience (Audio CD)
Well, I never thought I would like anything that resembles Classical, but this CD is great. After seing the IMAX production of "Everest" , which I recommend, I had to buy this Soundtrack. These selections relax me after a hard day's work. If you like Titanic Sountrack mood you will like Everest. The new George Harrison did a great job. The new rendition of "Here Comes the Sun" is also very well done.

The Most Beautiful Soundtrack I Have Every Heard!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Everest: Soundtrack From The IMAX Film Experience (Audio CD)
I was just browsing through the soundtrack selections one day when I stumbled onto this one. I did see the IMAX film and really thought the music was a big part of its success. The soundtrack is absolutely gorgeous--probably the best one I have ever heard (and I've heard quite a few). Whenever I'm stressed out, all I need to do is play the Everest CD and I am instantly transported away from my problems with the truly magestic and inspiring music. A must have!!!!

This review is from: Everest: Soundtrack From The IMAX Film Experience (Audio CD)
This soundtrack is one of the best I've ever heard. I went to see the Everest movie at the I-Max and was impressed by the breathtaking scenery. When I bought the soundtrack and listened to the music, I could still see and appreciate the majesty of the mountains. This CD incredibly relaxing without being boring. Get it! You'll love it!

I had not heard much about this CD despite being a George Harrison fan for almost 30 years. While the music is actually performed by an orchestra, it is quickly obvious to any fan that the pieces were written by George. This is an excellent CD which will probably be overlooked by many. I find myself listening to it frequently on my computer as much of the CD is quite soothing and easy on the ears. The producers of this IMAX film should be credited for utilizing such a talent in their film score.

Epic and Grand,
By A Customer
This review is from: Everest: Soundtrack From The IMAX Film Experience (Audio CD)
It's epic and grand in the tradition of Out of Africa, Lonesome Dove, and Titanic but with a dash of East Indian here and a touch of Native American there. I'm taking it with me in MP3 format when I trek in Nepal and Tibet because this is the kind of music that deserves to be heard in the land that inspired it.

Misleading! I Thought George's Songs Would Be Played!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Everest: Soundtrack From The IMAX Film Experience (Audio CD)
I should have investigated this CD more before quickly ordering it. Its not bad, just a ... if you're paying "new CD prices" like I did and based on what you recieve. Its a soundtrack! That should pretty much tell you what to expect (pretty "filler" music with a few good songs thrown in). I, however, saw the mentioning of "including the Music of George Harrison" and thought this would be some truly oustanding music or contain some "lost" George Harrison songs. It has an instrumental version of "Here Comes The Sun" that is pretty (although short) and some mediocre classical-sounding tunes that slip into bits from George's solo songs. There are some nice moments, and since I don't have very much music like this, I will probaly learn to appreciate it. Still, if you are like me and felt sad about George Harrison's recent death, DO NOT THINK this will introduce you to anything to do with his music! There are many great albums/cds that he recorded both during and after The Beatles that should be tracked down. My favorite is WONDERWALL MUSIC (A Really GREAT SOUNDTRACK) containing beautiful songs using Indian instruments.
