Not Leather!,
By
This review is from: Everlast Traditional Medicine Ball (Sports)
I received the ball and everything is OK with it. However, it is advertised as a leather ball, it is synthetic leather. I'm sure it would do a fine job, but if you are looking for a leather medicine ball this is not the one.

Nice ball but not leather,

As others have pointed out, this ball is not leather as advertised, which is disappointing to say the least. It is worth mentioning that this product sells for $10 more than the leather one on the Everlast site and the price here at Amazon is still at a much lower price than from the manufacturer. I really don't know where Amazon got the idea that this is leather, it doesn't say anything of that nature anywhere on the packaging or on the ball itself. The only place that I've been able to find clarification on this is on the Everlast website. Overall this seems like a good product but buyer beware of Amazon's false advertising.

Stay away from this product. I have no idea what is inside this ball but it is definitely a material that should not have been used. When I used the ball for the first time I noticed a terrible odor coming from the inside, it was so strong that I decided to just discard this medicine ball. Something was rotten inside. Bad warehouse storage...? probably Low Quality Control from country of origin ...? most likely Any way is in the dumpster.

I wish I had read the previous 4 reviews, I wonder if I got the same ball that R.Due returned. I checked the everlast website, they show the same picture of the ball as amazon, but on everlast it lists it as synthetic leather.
The ball I received is a white everlast lettering painted on, like a synthetic basketball with painted logo that eventually wears out. The picture looks like it might be a gold logo stitched on. Whether it was genuine leather or not I'm not completely certain. It might have been genuine. The problem is the ball has a funky moldy smell. It's assembled in India. I lived in a tropical climate before and I know that funky moldy odor. Using the ball just for a few minutes the moldy smell was on my hands. I'm going to contact everlast the manufacturer and give them a piece of my mind as well. Hopefully amazon will at least address the issue of picture not matching the actual product, so future customers will not be disappointed.

False Advertising,
This review is from: Everlast Traditional Medicine Ball (Sports)
Ordered the Everlast "LEATHER" medicine ball for a gift. Was please with the seemingly low price and ordered right away. Received the item in a very timely manner, but was very disappointed when I opened it. The package had been opened and taped back shut, as if it had been ordered and returned after some use. The worst part....it was not the "LEATHER" ball as described in the description, but a synthetic leather ball that Everlast makes. The recipient specifically wanted a "LEATHER" medicine ball, so I had to return the mis-represented item and order from another source. Needless to say, I had to deliver the gift 2 weeks late. Very, very disappointing and very inconvenient.

This is a god product with just the right weight to supplement my training. Note that in the picture of this ball it has the yellow label. The ball you receive has a white stamped label on it. some have noted that this is synthetic leather and it is. If you are going to be using this around the house it will make a perfect item for you.

What it do?,

Medicine balls have lasted from antiquity till the present day because they're highly effective. To achieve the full benefit of medicine ball training, you need an old-school mb like this one--not a new-age one. The modern mb's (Valeo, etc) are made of texturized rubber, like a cheap basketball. More importantly, they have a hard shell casing, which doesn't permit movement of the interior components. This ability of the inside to shift is key for engaging your muscles when squeezing the ball, dropping it on your abs, throwing it, etc. The beauty of the medicine ball is its simplicity--why change what has been proven to work for 3000+ years? ([..])
This Everlast MB is well-constructed from decent-quality leather. I use it six days a week in high-intensity applications. It has thus far exceeded my expectations in regards to durability and overall quality. As previously stated by other reviewers, the logo is not sewn on; it is painted on and looks different. I would definitely reccommend this product for anyone looking to tone their muscles, improve flexibility and stamina and have an overall fun workout.

This is the 16 year old son writing this. This is a great product. I've been doing everything I can to destroy it short of taking a razor blade to it, but despite me throwing it around and punching it as hard as I can, it hasn't even split a seam. One downside is the weight is never perfectly centered in the middle, so it isn't that good for practicing balance. I have tried a few medicine balls before, and this has been the toughest so far.

solid seams, stitching is fine. not perfectly spherical, but that's expected since it's not a rubber medicine ball. mine also has a white painted logo rather than the yellow one pictured. that's not a complaint, just an observation. i anticipate being able to get lots and lots of use out of this ball.
