This worked great even though my joists are 19 inches apart. I used two 2x4s to shim up the distance and its been holding up great.

We have a 100 lb. Muay Thai heavy bag hanging from this and it's great. We've just begun using the heavy bag but I can't imagine it going anywhere. This product is exactly what I was looking for. I believe that this hanger will outlast the single joist hanger that my local sports equipment retailer was selling. Another nice thing is that this keeps the bag up higher than a single joist hanger (which attaches to the bottom edge versus a few inches up the sides of the joists) and the extra height is what I needed to allow the bag to clear the floor of the basement.

Very easy to install...I had to borrow a drill but was very easy to put in and strong enough to keep the bag up in the air where it belongs!! :-) I think I'm pretty handy even though I am a girl and I had no issues of putting this holder up in my basement!

When I placed the bracket between the ceiling joists I thought I would have to add wood bracing to take up about 1/2" total space. But when I clamped the bracket to the horizontal beams and drilled the holes, the fit was very tight and secure.

Connected the joist hanger and have an 80lb heavy bag hanging from it. Between this and the spring mount I am using there are no vibrations felt throughout the house when I hit my heavy bag. Good quality product. I have an old house so the it did not fit neatly between the joist, but I used some wood and some joist hangers to make the necessary adjustments.

Awesome product that arrived promptly. I wanted to put up a heavy bag for years, but I wanted an easy way to put up a bag without adding extra wood and holes to my joist. This was an easy to install product that works great. It took me 5 minutes to install and its solid as the house. When I son hits that bag it doesn't rattle or vibrate. This puppy is solid. Well worth the investment.

First off, I will say that the one star deduction may only be due to the poor construction of my house versus the design of this mount. The actual design is great! I can't imagine what, if anything, could take this thing down. The D-Ring holding the bag is the weakest part of the design (soon to be replaced with something beefier).

The only con that I have is that every punch on this bag translates directly into the floor board above as well as through the two joists it is attached to, effectively rattling a large section of the next floor with every heavy hit. This may be isolated to the poor quality materials used to build my house, but its just a word of warning.
