5.0 out of 5 stars Everlastin' frustration
Iadored the cover, I adored the book and the primary and secondary characters. I was quite taken with the 3 sequels. The Frustration didn't come in until the end of the fourth book (Hope Everlastin'). Everything was left up in the air and dangling. 1.0 out of 5 stars Hoo, boy....
This book had promise (that's why I bought it): the plot had potential, and the characters started out fairly strong. But it became very stupid very quickly. And thanks to this author, I can't BEAR to hear a Scottish accent. This author should never, EVER try to replicate an accent in dialogue again!

Iadored the cover, I adored the book and the primary and secondary characters. I was quite taken with the 3 sequels. The Frustration didn't come in until the end of the fourth book (Hope Everlastin'). Everything was left up in the air and dangling. I even found out via an E-mail from the author, that the 5th chapter was to have been titled "Time Everlastin'" and was almost coplete. That was summer 2001. Sadly, it's now summer 2002 and the book has still not been published. It seems Ms. Madden got dumped by her publisher and has yet to find another. Too bad, it was agreat series. I'd love to know how it all came out. That's the everlastin' frustration. Don't start if not
being able to finish will bother you as much as it does me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hauntingly Magical!, February 20, 2000
This review is from: Everlastin' (Paperback)
The first of four books, _Everlastin'_ is the divine tale of a love so powerful even death can't hinder it. Lachlan Baird has overcome death and waited 150 years for a woman to fill his heart with love. He finds that love in the very modern Beth Staples. The story of their love is moving, heavenly and at times even heart wrenching. Ms. Madden has done a superb job by taking romance to the next step. _Everlastin'_ has a thoroughly unique premise, one that is at once enchanting and mystical. You'll fall head over heels in love with Lachlan and his lilting Scottish burr. You'll feel his pain as he watches Beth suffer, knowing there's nothing he can do to stop the inevitable. You'll delight as these two kindred souls find each other, though time and death would try to keep them apart. In the end you'll know that a love like this comes around once in a lifetime and when it does it's everlastin'. Be sure to look for the other books in this series, _Dusk Before Dawn_, _Love Everlastin'_ and _Hope Everlastin'_ for more of Beth, Lachlan, Roan and the beautiful Scottish mansion Baird House -- where mystery, magic and love reign.

2.0 out of 5 stars Everlastin', February 6, 2008
This review is from: Everlastin' (Paperback)
I'm a sucker for Scottish paranormal romances. Almost all of my books I read multiple times. But I won't be picking this one back up for a second read. The book started out good. The plot had potential. Usually it's the ghost becoming living again, not the other way around. As I said it started out good, but it fizzled. The heroine, if you can call her that, was extremely annoying. She started out fine, but it took her almost the entire book to figure things out. I found myself skipping over so many parts because her inability to cope was killing me. I mean, just deal with it. The hero......... well, he seemed immature to me, in a way. I couldn't wait until I finished the book just to be done with it, and the character's annoying antics. It had promise, plenty of emotion... perhaps too much. The setting for the second book intrigued me, but I will not be reading it. I fear it will be too much like the first.

5.0 out of 5 stars Everlastin' by Mickee Madden, March 29, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Everlastin' (Paperback)
The Hologram cover on the soft cover is the readers first impression there's a ghost involved. What's between the covers will make you smile, gasp, giggle and blush. A wonderful love story, written in a unique style. Mickee Madden knows how to spin a tale and keep her reader coming back for more.

The recent owners of Baird Mansion in Scotland, invite their friend Beth Staples of America to come for a holiday. A ghostly presences has haunted the mansion since 1843. His death was tragic when his bride murdered him and his friend buried him alive in the walls of the tower. Beth Staples agrees to comes for a much need vacation. After some strange things happen, she becomes suspicious that things aren't normal at Baird House. When she decides to leave, she finds she can't.......

We also meet the family the Ghost hates. His widow and best friends offspring. One is Roan Ingliss, who seems to be a little different from all the other lazy, thieving Inglisses. A young lady Laura Bennett and her 3 nephews arrive in a harrowing way and add even more chaos to the house.

A story filled with: Love; family feuding;danger; life;death;time travel and of course a ghost. Mickee Madden added a glossary for the Scottish dialog.

5.0 out of 5 stars LACHLAN, YOU CAN HAUNT MY HOUSE ANY DAY!, August 2, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Everlastin' (Paperback)
Mickee Madden is a wondeful writer of love with a twist. I read all kinds of romance books and alot of them leave me bored/same old thing...NOT SO WITH EVERLASTIN' I actually loved the Scottish brogue. The eye for detail made the book more real, even though it was a fantasy. Isn't the entire idea of reading a romance with ghosts, vampires, time travel etc., is somewhere deep inside we're looking for a love that's out of the ordinary. That's why it's called a FANTASY. I've read Dust Before Dawn, Love Everlastin' and couldn't wait for Hope Everlastin' to go on sale. MS. Madden I await your next book that I won't be able to put down. Thank you!

1.0 out of 5 stars a vote of dissension......, October 14, 2008
This review is from: Everlastin' (Paperback)
I see that this book received mainly positive reviews. Sadly, I have the opposite take on Everlastin'. First and foremost-the "hero" is WAY too alpha male, to the point he is a obnoxious jerk to the heroine, her best friend, pretty much everyone. He gets the heroine to the castle by forcing her best friend to lie to her, then in turn he forces everyone to lie to her so he can have his way. He even lies to her when she dies! Where is the romance in that?

The heroine is yet another weak, clueless "non alpha female" who must be constantly "rescued" by the hero. Equally annoying was how the hero desired the heroine but kept calling her "girl". That frankly made my skin crawl.

Finally, as others have mentioned , the author's take of Scottish "brogue" is extremely hard to read and understand to the point of giving the reader a headache.

Take my advice-unless you love big, bullying alpha male heroes than I'd suggest you skip this book.

no stars.

You know how they say not to judge a book by it's cover? Well this time I did and it was wonderful! The story kept me spell bound through the whole book, and left me yearning to go to Scotland to find my own Lachlan. It touches your heart in many ways, and opens your mind to endless possibilities. This would make a wonderful movie too! I love it, love it love it!
p.s. I have re-read this book 7 times!

3.0 out of 5 stars Not what I'd expected, but still okay., June 8, 2009

This review is from: Everlastin' (Paperback)
This book was one that I'd found on my "search" for a great, well thought out romantic ghost story. I read the other reviews and thought that this book might be exactly what I was looking for. It wasn't. It was a cute story, there was some humor, but it was kind of slow and predictable. I understood when I purchased this book that it was one of four, needless to say I won't be getting the other three.
