3.0 out of 5 stars Not a bad book but not my favorite
I was actually a little disappointed in this work from Hal Lindsey. The main problem I had was that it became somewhat boring in places especially when he was giving the history of the Muslims. Sometimes too much detail can actually distract from a book such as this.
There were some good parts but not anything I had not read (much easier) in other works.

5.0 out of 5 stars A beneficial book from a variety of perspectives., March 31, 2003
A prominent myth regarding modern mainstream Christianity is that "you can make the Bible say anything you want it to." In reality, this concept is untrue, but the common failings of humankind, such as tradition, indoctrination, and denominational loyalties, often lend an illusion of support to such criticism. The vast majority of this work by Hal Lindsey focuses on several fundamental issues (namely the enmity between Israelites and the Arab nations, and the many prophecies pointing to the restoration of national Israel in the latter days), which are virtually irrefutable by anyone who examines the scripture in a sincere and unbiased manner. There will always be honorable disagreements between sincere Christians regarding minor theological issues, but the prophetical concepts detailed in this book are neither minor or obscure, by any stretch of the imagination. The content and instruction provided are very important to every Christian, and depending on the personal situation, such teaching could even be considered crucial.

While most readers will probably appreciate the obvious benefits associated with an improved insight into biblical teachings, I believe that several other benefits are provided that may not be so obvious upon first consideration:

1. The reader will gain a greater appreciation for the divine accuracy and relevancy of ancient scripture as it pertains to our modern times.
2. The reader's faith in the divine inspiration of scripture will be more firmly established.
3. A general concept of the unfolding of future events can be easily perceived.

This book does not twist and sensationalize modern events into a "scare tactic" in the effort to evangelize the reader (as is the case in many modern prophetic/interperative writings). Hal Lindsey's goal in this work is to instill a sense of awe and appreciation for the wisdom, provision, and dependability of God throughout the ages. It draws the reader into a closer reverence for God by presenting many of His virtuous attributes, which is the proper methodology that should be adopted by more of the evangelical community. I commend Mr. Lindsey for this approach.

I might be so bold as to disagree with a few minor points relating to the precise sequence of future events as detailed in the last chapter, but I have no hesitation in admitting that Mr. Lindsey's end-time scenario may be much more accurate than mine. Nevertheless, after 15 years of in-depth study of Christian theology, I must recommend this book as a very accurate, enjoyable, and beneficial read. If you have any doubts regarding the literal method of scriptural interpretation, the crucial nature of Israel in God's end-time plans, the current animosity between Jews and Arabs, or the divine authenticity of the Bible, you really need to read this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars An accurate account, December 9, 2002
By
Jacob Proktar (New York, NY USA) - See all my reviews
As a Muslim from Ankara who is disgusted with years of Islamic indoctrination, I must assert that much of what is written in this book is accurate. Particularly the exposition of the later Suras (which are quite bigoted, violent, and narrow minded) through which the earlier texts of the Quran are to be understood. As far as any apocalypticism is concerned, let that be left to the theologians to figure out. Anyone who has lived in a Muslim Society knows oppression not unlike that experienced by those living under the Iron Curtain. Don't be fooled.

This book is very clearly stated. one does not need to be a bible scholar or a historian to understand exactly what Lindsey is explaining. Excellent research on the ancient history of Arab born Jews; Jews and Muslims. Clearly and simply explains and expounds on the "ideas" of Islam and the Koran! Everything in this book is supported by either Biblical reference; reference from the koran; referrence from renowned and recognized historians. a must read for every person Jew, Christian, and Muslim - especially during these violent times!

5.0 out of 5 stars wake up time, January 25, 2003

This is absolutely the time for a book like this. So many people just don't understand fundamentalist moslems. This doesn't mean all moslems are bad, absolutely not. The problems between Jews and Moslems go back to Issac and Ishmael and can only be solved by the greatest of all prophets Jesus. The Moslem thinks western people are all Christians, which is incorrect, therefore we are a threat to their beliefs. TV news people say Christians don't tolerate other peoples beliefs, however neither do Moslem countries. Just look at the Sudan and try living in a Moslem country if you are a Christian. It won't be to nice if you believe in telling others about your faith. This book is on target and worth reading. It truly does tell the truth.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good info on Islamic hypocrisy, November 7, 2002
By A Customer
This is a basic book that cuts through to the root of the Israel/Arab conflict. Hal Lindsey uses clear, easily understood language and includes historical references to help prove his points. There is a focus on the biblical reason for the hatred followed by the natural, Koranic Islamic tendency to loathe the Jews. Some of the interesting points include highlighting the original Jewish benefits to the Arabs, who the first 'refugees' really are, who was first in Medina, and describing how much of a brutal tyrant Mohammed became. People who give this one star are still propbably caught up in the Islamic propaganda permeating the western media with the real truth being too radical to be accepted.

5.0 out of 5 stars Prepare for the truth & prepare to be shocked !, September 20, 2002

Seldom has a book been as timely and appropriate as this one !

This book is right on the money ! Hal Lindsey gets straight to the heart of the Islamic/Moslem hatred for the Jews, Christians, the US and the West generally.

Starting with the cold blooded murder of journalist Daniel Pearl, the author addresses present day events and the situation facing us all in the wake of the September 11 atrocities in the US. Approaching each and every aspect from a Christian/Biblical perspective.

He reveals the real fundamentalist Islamic position on violence, conquest and the infidels (that's us), as revealed in the Koran and the Haddith.

Hal Lindsey addresses in considerable detail, the Islamic fundamentalist purpose and agenda of replacing the Judeo-Christian, Western world with a new Islamic world order.

He provides an in depth analysis of the Biblical promises to the people of Israel in relation to the Land presently disputed between the Jewish state and the Arab world, including Jerusalem.

Also studied are the roots of anti-Semitism and the history of Islam, Mohammed and the Biblical references to the descendants of Ishmael.

Of particular note are the sections devoted to the Palestinian people, their origins etc., and the overwhelming atmosphere of hatred so prevalent at this time in the Middle East. The very roots of this hatred are at the heart of this study and I highly recommend this. It is a shame that only five stars can be allocated, as this book deserves more !

5.0 out of 5 stars A must read for understanding the Middle east problem., August 26, 2002
By
In order to Understand the Hitler like hate many Muslims hold for the Israelis; we must understand there religion, there beliefs. How Lindsey does a great Job of tracing this "Everlasting Hatred" from Jacob and Essau (4000 years ago) to modern times. You cannot understand this hate unless you understand that the fact that Israel's existence, proves the Muslims religion to be incorrect and proves Mohammed to be a false Prophet. The Muslim's have only two choices, One; at all coast they must destroy Israel; or two; they can change there beliefs. Which do you think they will chose? And where will that choice Lead the world too? Read this book and You will get a better understanding of this insane hate and where it comes from. Lindsey also does a great job of tracing the history of the middle east (in a concise Way) and presents an interesting view of the Palestinians claims. This is a must read, for anyone who want's to understand the events that are unfolding beyond our very own eyes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Islam: The Religion of the Weak Minded, October 16, 2003
By A Customer
I used to be like you. I used to think that Muslims simply want to live in peace. I used to think they tolerate Christians and Jews as fellow "people of the book."

Now I know the truth. After reading countless books and articles on the topic, and talking with ex-Muslims from Islamist countries, I now understand that Islam is the religion of the weak-minded.

It is growing in popularity in the West because the secularists have destroyed Christianity in the West. Without a faith to make order out of the chaos of life, Westerners lap up Islam. It's an easy religion. It makes life easy. Follow the strictly laid out rules, and you'll go to heaven. Period. Kill the "infidels" in a "jihad" and you'll be guaranteed your way with ever-refreshing "dark-eyed virgins" and "boys as fine as pearls." What kind of religion is that?

Islam has NEVER been "a religion of Peace." It began with mass slaughter and Mohammed himself led many raids on surrounding tribes that refused to convert to his new "religion." As they refused to convert, he slit their throats and soaked the desert sands in blood.

You politically correct defenders of Muslims are the first they will betray. They would just as soon slit your throat from ear to ear as to look at you.

This book is one of the finest expose's I have read on the subject. It vitally written and intersting, plus, the writer has tied everything together with known Bible History and Bible Prophesy. Islamic writings and Quran provide a complete link to why the hatred never ends. It shows why we must get smart or die! The writer has no axe to grind with anyone, and I found his open hearted writing to be right up to date with what is going on right now i the world everywhere.

5.0 out of 5 stars "Ignorance was bliss! Reality is scary!", October 7, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I've been a Christian for 25 years and had little knowledge what the Muslim fundamentalist believes. Every Christian should have this book on their "must read" list. It gave me a much clearer understanding of the Jewish and Muslim's past, and the Muslim's mind-set with respect to the Koran and the future of the Jews.

I think the point that came out to me from reading the book, is the tragic cycle the Jews have had to endure. I truly see no difference between what the United States has done to Israel by dismantling their Jewish settlements through the Road Map to Peace, and what occurred in the latter 1930's, when the British Empire betrayed the Jews by not fulfilling their promise of assistance through the Mandate. It ultimately permitted Hitler's death camps to fill (the United States did nothing to assist them). As a result, the British Empire fell from being a supreme world power.

Now, the United States is the main party into the reduction of Israel. Will our country be the next to fall from being a supreme world power due to our dealings with Israel? The Muslims have already begun to bring their arms into the Gaza Region and cause a greater threat than they were before they were given Israel's land. It falls in line with what the Muslim Prophet Mohammad said, "Negotiate peace with your enemy until you are strong enough to annihilate him."

You must read this book to get the full understanding, yet wonder why the United States is assisting the Palestinians. Is it due to the Middle Eastern oil, or out of ignorance of the past. Can President Bush be that blind to not understand that those who curse Israel shall be cursed? Dismantling their land was not a good thing! What a betrayal to the Jews! It has only helped to turn up the prophet clock. If this book did anything for me, it has helped me to become radical for Jesus, and more skeptical of the Muslims.
