A lovely story with miracles,

This review is from: Everlasting Journey (Paperback)
Meloni Cassidy, as an author and as a woman, has justified her novel depicting all the different shades of a woman's life in her book "Everlasting Journey". After reading the book, I can say that no other title would have taken its place. This novel has been dedicated to all those 1500 souls who died during the sinking of the Titanic.
This is a beautiful sentimental story of a woman called Layna Bennett who is divorced, and is not so very happy in her life. What has changed her life? A simple letter through which she was bound to go back in time to 1870.She is known there as Mrs. Alayna Margeaut, who is a hard person and with less sentiments. Enters a man named Trey Margeaut. He was a warrior of the Civil War. He comes home safe from the war, but with this tragedy, he lost some use of his leg, and so much more. He believes in an unconditional love. After a long tussle in hope that now all his days will be spent happier with his wife. To his dismay, he is looking for her love, but as mentioned before, she is not ready to accept him the way he came back .He meets Layna, and is delighted to see that she appears much like his wife and Layna is not able to tell him the face that she is not what he is thinking. Layna who always dreamt of her own family unit, but unfortunately it didn't come to the reality. They feel the power of attraction towards each other but at the same time, they have to sacrifice for greedy and selfish people. The soul of Mel's novel is there where constantly she is trying to satisfy this question "If time truly heals all wounds, can their shattered hearts be mended by breaking the very barriers of time itself?" What happens at the end? What are the ups and downs of a divorced woman, where each day she is waiting for a miracle to occur in her life? Meloni Cassidy, who was just another author to me, after reading her novel, I think I can peep inside and can see who really she is...a woman who can write the best about a woman's sentiments and won't deny anywhere what she expects from her life. She has done justice to all her characters. Scenes are described as we are there roaming in it .Characters like Trey and Layna are impressively woven in one compact shell. Sometimes while reading, you wish a scene to be a little longer. After a long time, reading a romance novel gave me true pleasure... This is a novel with an interesting storyline. Its wonderful descriptions will surely appeal to your heart, written from the heart. It is a soul touching novel...and above all... Miracles can happen to anyone, in any place, or in any time.

Wonderful Read!,
This review is from: Everlasting Journey (Paperback)
Layna Bennett is divorced and unhappy, but then she receives a letter in the mail that changes her life forever. She is sent back in time to 1870, where everyone believes that she is Mrs. Alayna Margeaut, which isn't a compliment. The woman is heartless, conniving and with no scruples.
Trey Margeaut came back from the war alive, but with a damaged leg. He thought he could find comfort in the arms of his wife, but she spurns him. She doesn't want a man that in her mind is not whole. He is trapped in a loveless marriage, and takes it out on Layna, who looks so much like his wife that even he is unable to tell that she isn't. Layna doesn't give up and tries to make Trey see her for who she really is, while Trey against his will begins to fall for the woman he thought to despise forever. You feel compassion for Trey's plight, for words of rejections can be far more detrimental than physical blows; they wound not the flesh but the soul. Layna craves to have a family of her own, but believes it will never happen. Layna and Trey butt heads more times than not; they have to deal with deceit and greed of others; but they also begin to see each other in a different light, until their attraction cannot be denied. Ms. Cassidy has written a tale of intrigue where the pen is mightier than fate itself. A wonderful story!

This is not your typical romance novel. Everlasting Journey, by Meloni Cassidy, is much more than a romance novel, though it contains plenty of that and some steamy scenes that men will fancy as well. It is a fantastic tale of time travel, stitched together in a tidy and believable manner. The story, however, is neither simple, nor predictable. Just when you think you've figured out what's going to happen, Cassidy throws in a slight twist that keeps you wondering what is going to happen next. The plot catapults a modern, liberated and spunky woman into a constricting age of corsets and southern chivalry. While constantly aware of the differences in times and cultures, Everlasting Journey is acutely aware of those human characteristics that are timeless. Cassidy understands things about character and plot development that can't be taught. She's a natural writer with a flair for romance. A very entertaining read.

NOTE- This review was given to me from Lainey, reviewer from Coffee Time Romance.
Rating: 5 cups "Layna Bennett is about to embark on a journey lead by her heart and destiny according to a strange letter she receives. In 2001 she is an everyday woman, young, divorced, working and even owning her Indiana home. Reading the missive and then napping, Layna finds herself on a runaway horse begging it to stop and so it does, but in the year 1870. Trey Margeaut is a wealthy plantation owner in Alabama. Finding a suicide note from his wife Alayna he sends out a search party to find her. Later that night his runaway bride returns, only to say her name is Layna, she is not his wife and that she is from the future. Trey is a crippled Civil War veteran who has lost his parents, a son and now a wife? Who is this person who looks like his wife but is sweet and helpful around the house instead of yelling at him? Layna must prove she is from the future and that she loves Trey. This is a fantastic love story that encompasses time travel but also other issues like the Titanic and 9/11. Can one go back in time to find their perfect mate and can they affect future events if known and warned beforehand? I love the premise of this book it is riveting and challenging. Trey and Layna have to conquer problems not only of the past but also of the future. This includes an ensemble cast and is so well coordinated it seems very plausible. I loved the role reversals and the parallel views from both sides, his and hers. This is a must read and leads us to question that if time travel is possible, could we affect the past and change some of the disastrous outcomes?" A Book of Romance and Time Travel,
By
This review is from: Everlasting Journey (Paperback)
I think Meloni was given an extra measure of imagination. Her enthusiasm is evident in every chapter and I could feel the writer living the adventure and letting the words flow with excellent dialogue and narrative. The author entwines different centuries and different cultures with skill as fascinating characters appear before the reader. The entire story was never, never boring and I had no idea how it was all going to end.
And at the end of the book, my mind was still going on with the story. I wanted to have two of the characters go to Alabama to see if the manor house from the 19th century was still there. But that did not happen. Perhaps in a sequel they will take this journey. But maybe not. I probably wouldn't give this book to one of my granddaughters, but there is so much here besides the vividly described romance. I read this book in two days, so be sure you've got time to finish it because it will captivate you from beginning to end. Carol Troestler Author Flow On Sweet Missouri

Suspensful and romantically stimulating,
This review is from: Everlasting Journey (Paperback)
Review by Abe F. March, author of "To Beirut and Back"
With her first novel, Meloni Cassidy has proven herself a first class writer. She has cleverly written a "back to the future" tale that is both suspenseful and romantically stimulating. Meloni does justice to the characters she has created to fit their devised roles. The setting for the story seems to be a place where the writer has been. or could have been, based on the descriptive manner in which she has written. She has woven dramatic historical events into the intrigue of the story that adds to its appeal. I heartily recommend this book. |
