After graduation in 1994, Mize returned to St. Petersburg, Florida but continued his education, studying the mystery novel with his current mentor, Macavity Award-Winning mystery writer Deborah Adams, creator of the best-selling Jesus Creek Mystery series (All The Dark Disguises; All The Deadly Winters).
In 1997, his first novel, Resurrection Angel, was chosen by noted mystery writer, critic and editor Robert J. Randisi as a finalist in the St. Martin's Press - Private Eye Writers of America Best First Novel of The Year Contest.
In 2000, taking advantage of the current Print-On-Demand technology, Resurrection Angel was self-published through Writer's Press, an imprint of iUniverse.com.
In 2001, Mize made publishing history when Resurrection Angel was nominated by the Private Eye Writers of America for one of their highest honors, The Shamus Award for Best First Novel of The Year, making it the first Print on Demand book ever to be nominated for a major publishing award.

With gorgeous new designed matching covers, and a third book "Spear of Destiny" coming soon, it marks the triumphant return of a great mystery writer and inspiration for a new generation of writers who want to use the internet and up to date technology to bring their works to life.
