5.0 out of 5 stars Least Accessible, most introspective - a perfect ending
I love all of the amethystium CD's with a passion. No music i have ever heard has been able to top that of Oystein Ramfjord. His ability to mix sounds into a whirling musical stream of melody is a wonder to behold.

I was a bit surprised at my first listen to this CD. Unlike the other 2 releases, this one is slower, and seems to be deeper- looking within...

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice
There's great new age and there's good. This is good. Transaction went fine. Got a smile and would do it again.

I love all of the amethystium CD's with a passion. No music i have ever heard has been able to top that of Oystein Ramfjord. His ability to mix sounds into a whirling musical stream of melody is a wonder to behold.

I was a bit surprised at my first listen to this CD. Unlike the other 2 releases, this one is slower, and seems to be deeper- looking within almost. Unlike the inviting ride of "Opaque" or the transcendent melody of "Shadow to Light", these songs seem light on the keyboard and heavy on the atmospheres. However, within this seemingly different style, there also exists a mystical quality, a more subtle side, that seems to give this album great meaning.

I believe the best track on here is "imaginatio". The wailing electric guitar seems to shake with raw energy, while the melody and atmosphere carry the listener far away. I can think of no better way than this song to end 3 CD's of musical genius.

I can't suggest this album as a first buy for amethystium. However, this CD is essential to the series. And I hope that Ramfjord continues to produce music in the future.

5.0 out of 5 stars For The Electronic New Age Fan, January 20, 2006
This review is from: Evermind (Audio CD)
Oh, Wow!
This is a cd that will be liked by all who enjoy Enigma, Mehdi, Adiemus, Delerium, Mythos or even Robert Miles. It is the very essence of good electronic new age. So tranquil, yet so spirited (and interesting coverart!), this cd is a refreshing break from my well-worn collection, I just keep wanting to listen to it over and over again. I am amazed!
It reminds me somewhat of Enigma, but still very unique. This is music to the soul. Absolutely relaxing, as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Remarkable return!, March 24, 2005
This review is from: Evermind (Audio CD)
The Norwegian musician outdoes himself once again! "Evermind" is another artistic leap forward from his previous two albums in one major way. Where as the former two often copied drum loops from other peoples songs, "Evermind" limits doing this and as a result the album overall is a lot more original in sound.

"Arcus" begins with a crackling sound effect and becomes a beautiful, heavenly track with a beautiful blend of mid-tempo beats and beautiful female vocal effects. In a sense, this reminds me of Paul Scharz's "State of Grace" song.

I love amethystium's music. Each cd he has released has suprised me by being better than the last. I have no fear in setting my expectations higher for each release for he never fails to exceed them. Evermind is no exception, it is a beautiful etheral soundscape of transient waves and voices. Oystein Ramjford (amethystium) is a very talented master of mixing and sound. Fans of Animus Mundi will be pleased to hear their vocals on this cd as well as other guest appearences. I had lost interest in new age/world type music but Amethystium brought me back to the fold. My only problem is I can't find anyone else as good. I keep coming back to Ramjford's music over and over again. I bought the first Amethystium cd on a whim and it turned out to be one of the best music purchases in years. You will not regret your decision to give this a try. If you are a fan of this type of music you owe it to yourself to give it a try.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amethystium Does It Again!, February 8, 2007
This review is from: Evermind (Dig) (Audio CD)
I have their album before this one called Aphelion. I really liked that one and think that this one is just as good. Lovers of New Age music should definitely check out Amethystium. And if you have all of Amethystium's titles already or want something different, check out 2002 and Mythos. They should keep you happy and entertained. They may even put you in a meditative state. Enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great!, September 19, 2005
This review is from: Evermind (Audio CD)
Evermind is a great CD. It did not instantly grow on me as did the other 2 and maybe that is why I appreciate it more. It seems darker but still dreamy and soothing. Amethystium in my mind is the best new age artist out there and all 3 albums rank among my top favorites with Enigma's first CD, Digital Moodz "Metamorphosis" and my latest favorite Achillea "Nine Worlds".

All in all I recommend any album by Amethystium. Each has its own personality which leaves the listener satisfied and wanting more.

4.0 out of 5 stars Dreamy, June 18, 2005
This review is from: Evermind (Audio CD)
With a band name like that, most people would avoid it thinking it's some new-agey crap from the Far East or worse, new-agey crap from an American, who pretends to be British when convenient but tries the New Age stuff on for fad.

Who: It's actually dreamy ambient music by a Norwegian composer Oystein Ramfjord.

Why: The first word that comes to mind while listening to it is "peaceful" - the kind that invokes images of green grass, gentle streams, moonlight and so on. It's not just bland instrumental music, it's the stuff reviewers normally call "lush" soundscape - it's amazing how such rich music can be made from simple electronic keyboards and chimes.

Actually I am making it sound terribly boring, but you've got to try it for youreself. My favorites include the soothing "Arcus" and "Shadowlands" with ethereal female vocals and "Into the Twilight" with its simple musical phrases cleverly woven together.

When/Where to listen: For those of us who can't afford Swedish massages and Euro day spas every week, here's how to unwind. It's the perfect CD in the background when reading, cooking or soaking in the bath tub. Unobtrusive, calming yet you know it's there.

5.0 out of 5 stars Primordial meets celestial, September 27, 2007

Like a fane aged wine, it takes time to appreciate this exquisite album. I will admit that it took at least four listens of it to rattle my soul but rattle it did and I am glad I let the intimacy of this music into my conscience and soul.

Amethystium is an artist that throws a seed of desire into the listener, it slowly grows and lingers forever as the audience carries the faint memory of how lovely the music was and it keeps rekindling the need to listen to it as often as possible. This is a highly addictive artist and I can almost guarantee some sort of an obsession to form with anyone who enjoys this type of music. Similar artists include Yanni, Govi, David Arkenstone, David Lanz, Enigma and Delerium just to name some. The music is a mix of electronic pop, new age, some sparking piano and chant like melodies mixed in with angelic voices. It's the perfect thing to put on at night or when one wants to chill out and let the sounds take them away into far away galaxies of pleasure.

My favorite piece on this disc is Shadowloands - the deep, rich, embalming sound is almost hypnotic tune that always catches me under it's spell.

I come from a mostly Hip Hop background. I listen to cats from Aceyalone, Ras Kass, Murs, Public Enemy, Paris, dead prez, etc to Lil Jon, Young Bleed, Spice 1 and so on... when I get sick of hearing fools talkin in my ear I usually put on something like Enigma, who is probably my favorite non-hip hop artist, but I already wore out the entire Enigma catalog. I got a little bit into Delerium and Mythos, but they didn't quite do the trick - then I found this cat, Amethystium. I listened to the other 2 CDs online but they didn't have them when I went to look for them at the store, instead they had this one - Evermind - which I didn't know about, but I chanced it and have not regretted it. There are a couple of spots where it drags if you aren't really in the right mood, but overall it's tight. I especially like "Fable", but the whole thing CD is cool. Bottom line, if you ever want some nice music to chill to with your own thoughts then this is a good buy.

Just arrived in mail. I find the music very inspirational. It helps me when I study or work on my paintings. Great for those long autumn evenings when you feel like reflecting on things.
