Editorial Reviews

2011 CD/DVD live release from the British Heavy Metal band. In the summer of 2011, Cradle Of Filth embarked on a rapid succession of tours, accompanied by two filmmakers. The resulting documentary, combined with performance and interview footage culminates in an hour-long film of the not so glamorous reality of life in a touring band. The documentary features copious footage of the band, both at work and enjoying some down time, as the band trawl their way through the Ukraine, Russia, Switzerland, Austria and Germany over the space of eight shows, with only a brief stop back on the shores of England. The format is a long interview with Dani, interspersed and peppered with live footage and all the shenanigans that occurred over the space of the 10 days along with behind the scenes at latest shot for the new video 'Lilith Immaculate' along with the promo clip.

"Evermore Darkly" is a mini-album and DVD set from one of my favorite bands, Cradle Of Filth. Cradle often delivers releases like this one to compliment their most recent LP release; in this case, "Evermore Darkly" is the companion piece to "Darkly, Darkly Venus Aversa", an album that I really like. If you are into Cradle, and not just the old stuff, and especially if you are as big a fan of "Darkly, Darkly Venus Aversa" as I am, then "Evermore Darkly" needs to be in your collection.

The mini-album CD starts off with an incredibly heavy song (after the intro track) called "Thank Your Lucky Scars" which is worth the price of admission alone. The track sounds a lot like "Darkly..." and Cradle truly delivers on the opening track. Brutal to say the least. Other highlights include an extended-length version of "Lilith Immaculate" which consists of the original song which now has a 2 minute long orchestral breakdown in the middle of the song, which sounds similar to the type of breakdown you'd hear on "Cruelty and the Beast" or "Damnation and a Day". Another interesting track is the remix of "Forgive Me Father (I Have Sinned)" by Rob C. of Anthrax. The remix isn't quite what you'd expect from a guy from Anthrax. It's basically a techno kind of remix. It's interesting, but may not appeal to all Cradle fans. There are also 3 tracks on this mini-album that are basically just demos of songs from "Darkly..." but they are labeled as "Elder Version(s)" and they are probably the least interesting part of the mini-album. "Evermore Darkly" closes with an orchestral rendition of the classic Cradle song "Summer Dying Fast", which will be featured on the upcoming Cradle Of Filth orchestral compilation, "Midnight In the Labyrinth".

5.0 out of 5 stars Masters January 17, 2013

People can say what they want about Cradle of Filth being the commercial side of "Black Metal" but the fact of the matter is that they have achieved commercial success the same way any great band do - by continually bringing excellent music out. Whether it's one of their concept albums, or just another release, Cradle excel time and time again. Evermore Darkly is an excellent example of aggressive, heavy material coupled with melody and thought. Excellent album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just what I was looking for May 31, 2012
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
This cd/dvd set is a perfect segue to keep you satiated between albums. A few new tracks, remixes and the DVD performance, documentary and music video give you fix of Filth that gives you a taste of things to come as well as a snapshot of the past via the live performance. All-in-all a reasonably priced EP worth the content.

while lisening the new albums of cradle of filth, i usually miss the old days. but, thank god he exists still. Evermore darkly is for the fans. So if you are one of them (like me) you'll enjoy it much. Otherwise, you can't find any important difference with darkly darkly...

Difference between US version and the European Import?
Apparently not. There's just one edition (content-wise) according to MetalStorm.ee and Metal-Archives.com.

In Metal-Archives, if there's more than one edition of an album the details of different content are mainly, if not strictly, in the 'additional notes' section.
