Gameplay
EverQuest II is one of the preeminent MMO's in the PC gaming market, and as such gameplay in the Sentinel's Fate expansion pack sticks with the classic RPG elements that has made the series one of the most popular since its 2004 release. Set in the fictional world of Norrath, players create a character from a variety of races and character classes and subclasses. From there they are free to quest to their heart's delight, by themselves or more likely in the company of members of guilds that they can join or create. Success in these quests earn individual characters and their guilds rewards that can be used to aquire new in-game equipment and abilities that are crucial to leveling up characters and proceeding through the game. As with all MMO's, socialization is a major component of the game, encouraged by features such as voice chat, a mail system, global chat channels, and a global marketplace where items can be sold and/or traded. The game requires an Internet connection and a paid subscription for online play. A 30-day subscription is included with the purchase price for new accounts.

We've been play EQ2 since release, and we've tried all the others hoping for a true next-gen product. There just is no game better than this one. If you haven't played in a while, give yourself a treat and try it out again. SOE has worked hard to make it a great experience and constantly upgrade and update the game so that it is never stagnant. All levels of play are considered, from solo to raiding. And the world is huge! It is less buggy and better designed in almost every aspect than any game out there, and is much more challenging than games like WoW, especially the raid content.

The SF expansion makes major changes to the game, so expect a learnign curve if you are a returning player. New players should find things less confusing than before as SOE continues to iron things out, bringing new levels of consistency and better customization of characters.

It isn't perfect, but it sure is the best available. There is nothing that can beat a challenging and vital yet mature MMORPG and this is it.

EQ2 ia a very addictive game but one that gives tremendous pleasure and relaxation. I am an older senior and my daughter and son-in-law are the ones who got me "hooked" on the game. I have been playing it for over 7 years and have every expansion they have come out with and am looking forward to another one coming out I believe in November of this year. When they named it "Everquest" they could not have selected a more appropriate title. There is ALWAYS something to do. I have noticed that I am able to remember things a little better (because you really do work your mind) and the hand to eye coordination is fantastic. You play with others all over the world and I have made some wonderful, and lasting, friendships in this game. I even know of several couples who met on EQII and are, or have, getting married. lol You just never know what will happen in this game and trust me, you will not get bored with it. If you need help, you only need to ask and there is always someone who will assist you. I cannot recommend a better MMO game (and I have tried quite a few others) more than I can recommend EQII. See you in Norrath! : )

The one upside about buying this set, even if you're interested in the free to play servers, is that you do get to take advantage of all the veteran awards that the various expansions offer, but perhaps most importantly every character you create on any server, including the free one, starts out with a 65% run speed armored or unarmored cat mount. Just be advised that the free month you get with a new account is not for the free to play server, but for the live server. However, that does give you the ability to see all the races and classes unlocked so that if you decide to go free to play, you know what you want to unlock.

Sentinel's Fate is currently the latest expansion for the Everquest II franchise. It offers new lands to explore and a level cap increase from 85 to 90 as well as several new items, quests, and tradeskill recipes. The collector's addition also includes your choice between 2 versions of a "highland stalker", a large feline mount that will increase your movement speed by 65%. Sentinel's Fate is a great expansion which originally sold for over $40.00 and was worth every penny... it is an even better buy at it's reduced price.

EQ2 is my favorite MMORPG but this is not the best expansion for the game. Actually it is one of the worst. Came out too buggy and is in constant needs of fixes. Very small world in this expansion compares with Kunark or some of the earlier one. I got the collector's edition for the Mount which is the only reason to buy that version. If you don't care about the mount by the cheaper expansion.

Great game, wonderful world, excellent character development great combat, traditional style of graphics, not preteen colors and characters. Traditional AD&D flavor. Get a group/guild, multibox on more than one account. Tough to catch up to the uberest. Must invest large quantities of your life to advance to uberdom. Depending on your PoV on life, you couldn't waste your time playing this game. It is a lush and vibrant world ripe with quests, creatures and adventure. Immerse yourself, but bring some food and drink, could be a while before reality creeps in.

i have played this game now for over 10 years . you can play for free and it is almost the same as a paying account just less free items and plat and tokens . not that big of a deal really . i believe EASY one the greatest rpgs of all time it is massive with so much you can do if just try . well worth playing for free or pay to play nothing to loose give it a try . this cd box is still useful as it can cut down a good bit on the download time needed to a full install .
