5.0 out of 5 stars A fantastic game that's overlooked November 2, 2009

Where to start? So much depth, so many places to go, so many things to spend your time on. Had been searching for a new game to play with a number of friends who had grown tired of 4-5 years with the biggest game out there (we tried just about every big title that came out the last couple years).

All any of us could say, "why did we wait so long to try this game out?" It has evolved since launch and so much for the better. Alternative Advancement's(AA's) represent the talent trees for EQ2. They are earned as you level, you can even adjust the amount of adventure/combat experience that goes towards earning these points. Want to fight from your mount, being able to use all of your skills? It's here in EQ2. Crafting is abundant and more interactive than most games, while not being tedious and overly complicated. Do like to have alot of abilities to use as you fight your way through a vast world? Then you will find your task bars full of interesting abilities to use. Do you like to earn achievments? EQ2 has incorporated one and wrapped the old slayer titles into it.

The game still looks great and yes you will have to adjust settings to fit your system and how you want it to look. Characters are pretty impressive looking, personally I say check out the alternative models they have for most of the races, I like them better for many of the races. The landscape can look amazing and is very immersive, in my opinion it still looks better than alot of newer games on the market. They also will be releasing a new shader around the 1st of December that looks even more promising for the graphics.

To sum up, there's a great game here that offers more depth than other mmorpg's on the market right now.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not complete anymore April 9, 2010

Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
When I recently purchased this I didn't realize that Sony includes the full game with every new expansion. So really, the latest "Sentinel's Favorite" expansion is now the real complete collection. This one is cheaper and includes 60 days instead of 30 so I'm not regretting my purchase. One thing to be aware of is that if you have been playing the 14-day demo and intend to use that account Sony might subtract those days from the free 60. Kind of sneaky. Anyway I suggest creating a new account to avoid problems and getting the full 60 days.

Overall the game is pretty good. It's come a long ways since launch and SOE has made some great improvements. This particular version is nice as it comes with 60 days for free, so if you're debating joining the EQII world, this would be a good version to buy!

1.0 out of 5 stars Thinking about an SOE Product... Don't January 19, 2013
Fun: 1.0 out of 5 stars
I've been playing MMO's for over a decade and not once have I ran into such a poor company as SOE. It wasn't a week after I purchased a an account that my account was banned for hacking. I have never ran any hacking applications. I explained this to SOE and asked them to elaborate on what they found, they would not. I explained to them I am not aware of any hacking applications and to please inform me what triggered the ban so I could remove said software, again they would not(or could not). After 3 days my account was finally made active.

On the 4th day I received another ban, again for running "hacker" software. I again pleaded with them and gave my previous ban as an example of how they failed to inform me of what caused my ban and my concern about being banned again. I only received a copy/paste standard reply:
"Your account was detected as hacking through our internal detection apparatus for this. We cannot disclose how it was detected, what triggered the detection, or any other details of this nature as it would compromise our security and ability to continue to detect players using third party programs to modify their gameplay. At this time this account's suspension will stand. We do not like to have to take these steps, however we do strive to create a fair and level environment in DC Universe Online, and third party programs which modify gameplay detracts from everyone's experience."

Think of SOE? Don't even take the risk, they do a horribad job of managing their MMOs.

1.0 out of 5 stars Bad game. Worse support. Misleading charges. June 25, 2010

Fun: 1.0 out of 5 stars
I purchased this because it was supposed to come with 2 free months of gameplay -- plenty of time to discover if this game might be fun to play. It was not. It was a pretty boring game. But what's worse is, they charged me for play the DAY I started playing. No free months. When I called to complain, they told me I didn't get the free play because I already had an everquest 2 account. Pardon? I'd never played EQ2 in my life. They insisted. They refused to refund my charge, but gave be an extra month of play to account for it, not that I wanted it.

After 2 months, I cancelled my account.

In April, I was charged again. And in May. And in June. I didn't notice this immediately, but when I did, I called to find out what happened, and was told my account was active again. I cancelled AGAIN, but they would not refund the money. I've now issued a chargeback to the bank, but all told, this game has cost me $55 just to own (not including the price of the box, which was only $10 when I got it on a lightning deal). All told, playtime was about 6 hours.

I'd heard nightmare stories of Sony Online Entertainment before, but had simply chalked them up to bitterness or people misunderstanding things. This, however, has reinforced those stories with firsthand experience. Never again. Steer VERY clear of any game run by Sony. Your wallet will regret it if you don't.
