Just Plain Twisted.,
This review is from: Every F---ing Day of My Life (DVD)
Every F---king Day of My Life is the story of a woman who, along with her son, killed her husband in a pre-meditated manner after 20 years of severe abuse. It is honestly one of the worst cases of domestic violence I've ever seen. It's a miracle this otherwise totally innocent woman isn't dead herself. Her husband, for example, dragged her into the woods and told her she had five minutes to give him a reason not to kill her. There were holes, dozens of them, all over her walls, where he had shoved her face through them. The entire bottom row of her teeth were fake because he'd knocked them all out from punching her so many times. He told her kids that if the dog did not stop scratching himself, he'd beat the dog to death. The list goes on for ever, and as the title suggests, it happened every single day.I believe her when she says that if she'd gone to the cops, or tried to leave, he would of killed her and all three of her children. She says he told her that if she ever ran away, he'd go straight to her mother's house, then her sister's, and kill all of her family until she came back. I absolutely believe he would have. Even the judge at her sentencing believed her. Realizing that her options were limited, law enforcement was useless, and it basically came down to his life or theirs, one night, she & her son bludgeoned her husband to death in his bed while he was sleeping. Under the law, what she did was 1st degree murder (although I believe the prosecutor only charged her with 2nd degree manslaughter). For the life of me, I do not understand why she didn't take this to trial, because I think the odds that the State could have scraped together a jury to convict her are very slim. But she took the deal. Profoundly disturbing, the strength of this woman's spirit might move others who have suffered abuse to stand up, although hopefully their options will be better than hers. My only criticism is that given the complexity of this case (and the price tag of the DVD!), I felt the documentary was quite short. I think they could have gone into a lot more detail, especially regarding the legal issues here that the average person might not be aware of. All and all, though, definitely worth it.

I happened to catch this documentary on ON-DEMAND, and it deeply moved me. What Wendy and her children went through was heartbreaking. This has to be on of the most heart wrenching I have seen on the subject of Domestic Violence.
