4.0 out of 5 stars A solid 4 star album, March 25, 2010

Where did this guy come from? He might just be the next big thing after all. This album has a couple 5 star tracks, a couple 4 star tracks and fills the rest with 3s. Those 5s and 4s make this a must-buy for fans of the genre though. First of all there is the fantastic blues guitar plus Patrick has a great voice and great songwriting. He doesn't overuse sounds which makes the songs distinctive and gives the album nice variety.

If you are not familiar with his music I would listen to the song "Them Shoes" first. It's the one they play on Pandora a lot and for good reason. This one is fantastic. It's a total standout on the album but not because the rest of the album is lacking, just because it's SO FRIGGEN GOOD.

Secondly I would check out "Burma Jones" for some more excellent material. Those are my two "5 star" tracks from this album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Go see them live if you can, February 5, 2009

I saw these guys last night in Baltimore opening for the Black Keys and they were great. I'd heard a few of their songs on Pandora that I'd liked from this CD (especially Them Shoes), and after hearing them live came here to check out the CD. The tiny clips don't do the songs justice. I'm gonna buy this one and listen to it a lot.

5.0 out of 5 stars Seriously...where's this guy been hiding?, June 21, 2009

I listen to a lot of music and read a lot of reviews. Therefore I hear a lot of hype about people saying so and so is "the next big thing." At risk of being one of those people--THIS GUY is the next big thing. At least for my listening, this is it. Have it playing right now. Will be listening to it a year from now. New blues baby, I'm on board. (Great recording quality, too, for those hi-fi folks out there.)

The first CD they sent out got lost in the mail, and they sent out another one at no additional cost. Great customer service, and very timely in their response.

4.0 out of 5 stars Every Hour is a Dollar Gone, December 17, 2011

The only Patrick Sweany album I own and it just keeps getting better with every listen. It's rare for me to buy a CD and like every track, with the exception of one, "Two or Three" which is to old timey for my tastes.

Every Hour highlights Sweany's many influences from rock to blues with a little country thrown in for good measure. "Orange to Pink" and "Mom and Dad" have a live unfinished feel to them and are a nice contrast from the studio tracks on the album. "Burma Jones" the only instrumental, with its rhythmic guitar and bounding drums flows nicely into the soulful "Your Man" which laments a lost love.

All in all, definitely worth a listen. It may not grab you at first but give it a few plays. You'll find yourself humming the guitars and maybe even singing some of the chorus.

5.0 out of 5 stars Here's a Sleeper, February 28, 2011

Kidding? Just 4 reviews? It's hard to believe this much talent has so little exposure. I expect that to change fairly quickly. Sweany's ability to move between genres in his songs and guitar playing is exceptional. I can hear his Piedmont and delta blues background regularly - that's probably what drew me to get the CD in the first place. But it's his garage side that's really impressed me. A happy find - thanks Pandora!
