This review is from: Every Little Thing About You (A Yellow Rose Trilogy #1) (Paperback)
I have read many Lori Wick novels, and each one is a treasure in its own. This one, I found, was hard to put down. Liberty was an interesting character, willing to put her life on the line by being the town's only deputy for her brother, the town's sheriff. Slater, an ex-Texas Ranger, came to love Liberty and wanted only her safety. When they clashed in differences and Liberty disobeyed Slater, the unexpected happend, and she got hurt. Liberty needed to be shown who she was, who she didn't realize she was. What happened at that fight showed her who she was, and made her change, and I think it was wonderful when Slater decided to give it another try. Actually, I think he didn't decide, he was left with no choice. His heart wouldn't let him walk away. The book was wonderful, and I am really looking forward to reading the sequel.

Not quite classic Lori Wick,

I was a bit disappointed in this offering from one of my favorite authors. The character development is good and they are very likeable, but the thin and predictable plot doesn't hold the character development together. The editing is awkward at times, and there were misprints and misspellings which were distracting. Lori's stand-alone books, like "Pretense", "The Princess" and "Sophie's Heart" are much more satisfying, and this is where she really shines; "Pretense" being one of her best works ever. But when she gets into the romance series genre, her writing is simply another clone of the Jeanette Oke variety. Not that these books are in anyway inferior, simply that they all seem the same after awhile with predictable plots and characters. So this reader will wait for another stand-alone novel from Mrs. Wick.

Mrs.Wick writes great books, but this is one of my favorites.I enjoyed it mostly becouse the main charactor isn't a sweet homey girl who's always pretty and clean. And she isn't always behind a man screaming in a gun fight. She has courage and faith. That's what makes this book so great.

Sums up the decisions of true love,

I have just finished reading this book and it was incredible! Right from the first page all the way through i was kept wondering what was going to happen next. The characters came alive and i cried with them, hurt with them, rejoiced with them and felt angry when things didn't turn out as they expected they would. Alot of thought was put into this book and it obviously shows by the overall story. All i can say is that it was awesome and something everyone should read...young and old! :)As a teenager going through disappointments with guys, i could relate so well to their struggles and how they hurt so much when the communcation lines weren't open and feelings were not revealed. It is so important to just tell it the way it is and Lori Wick makes this very obvious in this fantastic book! Great job!

A good love story,
This review is from: Every Little Thing About You (A Yellow Rose Trilogy #1) (Paperback)
I am disappointed in how many people find this book sexist. I read it as soon as it came out, and the thought of it being sexist never even entered my mind. I found it to be a genuine love story with the message of Christ within it's pages. Have some self confidence, and don't browbeat authors who are willing to write a love story, and portray the characters the right way for that time frame. The story is based in a different time, and things change. I found it to be a well written story and I look forward to her next novel with great anticipation.

It was OK.,
This review is from: Every Little Thing About You (A Yellow Rose Trilogy #1) (Paperback)
I just wanted to write to address what the other reviewers wrote about concerning the sexism in this book. For one thing, men ARE supposed to be the head of the home and the head of the woman. The Bible says so. If you don't believe me, look it up in your Bible. The man in this book is not overbearing or unrespectful to the woman, he simply cares for her and for her safety. And, like a lot of people, he struggles with pride. But I think deep down it was not pride, it was just that he felt it was his place, not hers. And I agree. And, no, I'm not a man writing this--I am a 20-year-old girl. Surprised? Don't be. We need to bring back the standards that are not tossed by the wayside. To any of you that agree with me, just wanted you to know that it's ok to be old-fashioned in your standards. I suppose some people say the Bible is outdated too, does justify anything? NO

This book was my favorite out of the Yellow Rose trilogy. I absolutely fell in love with Slater. I loved how fiercely protective he was over Liberty. I read this book in a day. It flowed so well.

I just started reading Christian books, and I have become addicted to Lori Wick. I read this book in 2 days and want the rest of the trilogy to read now. These books not only entertain but help you with your Christian walk.

Although I'm a Lori Wick fan, I was very disappointed in this book. The blurb was really good, but the book just did not live up to expectations. The main characters were sappy and I just couldn't relate to them. I found myself more interested in Dakota, a secondary character, than Liberty and Slater.

I enjoyed this book, and although parts of it may be called sexist by today's standards, Wick did an excellent job of writing a book based on history and not on what life is like today. I would definitely recommend this to people.
