Everything they did!!! both very rare albums on one disc, June 13, 2008
This review is from: Every Mother's Son - Complete Works (24 cuts) (Audio CD)
I have to applaud the release of this cd set..Much cheaper than the best of version.....Very consistent sound quality....faithful to the original albums..minus the ticks and pops. These tracks weren't remastered (and you can tell).. I am guessing the source was the original vinyl lp's...but they've held up nicely over the years....Very minimal surface noise. Even the roughest passages are very listenable. You can actually hear the bass (it isn't muddy and lost in the mix).
One major point to remember...This band wasn't considered a "super group"....mostly just a one hit wonder....and I wonder why they didn't get better recognition.
My only criticism is that there is no booklet..just an insert page. It would have been sweet if they would have photo'd the complete album pics and credits.....and included alittle history about these guys.
I really dont feel the need to review each song....if you remember the hit song...."Come on down to my boat".....then you'll find the rest of the CD to be along the same.....Big difference.....These guys weren't using a bunch of filler tracks to fill vinyl....they could actually play and sing...as well as write some interesting melodies. I would say there are some pretty diverse influences here....light bluegrass...country....folk...alot of various pop/rock styles...and great harmonies.
For all you "completists"...who just have to have it all...it's all here...both complete albums....every song.
All in all....Major US pop invasion from the mid 60s. If you grew up in the 60's or just love great pop rock from this era....You'll want this in your CD collection!!!!

clean pop from yesterday, January 4, 2010
This review is from: Every Mother's Son - Complete Works (24 cuts) (Audio CD)
this is late sixties pop music from a group of young men who could harmonize and play their instruments. It's in the vien of many pop groups of the era and it if you enjoy that type of clean pop made by a real band then you may enjoy this one IT's not as good as say the association was though , but it's decent enough. My disc was a cdr though and I wish people would take the time to put out proper silver discs. The sound was clean though and obviously from records that had no scratches so at least you get that part done well.

I like Allison Dozer best but Come On Down To My Boat is also GREAT. This group was way underated, they are alot better than they got credit for.
