OKAY THIS ONE WAS DELICIOUS!!!!,
By
This review is from: Every Night I'm Yours (Zebra Historical Romance) (Paperback)
Numerous very talented new authors are being showcased by Zebra publications at a surprisingly affordable price of $3.99! Such is the case with new rising author - Christie Kelley and her new novel EVERY NIGHT I'M YOURS.
The plot is surprisingly fresh and Kelley's writing style is absolutely wonderful. Descriptive, funny and enchanting the story flows across the pages full of sizzle and sexual tension. Lady Avis Copley is an aspiring novelist. She defies convention by living alone, being a writer and at her age - a spinster in the Ton. Surrounded by very strong and loyal friends she is self sufficient, has money and is the very picture of happy spinsterhood. That is until she discovers an erotica book and she realizes that what is lacking in her writings is the emotion of love and sexual overtones. So she decides to take a lover much to the chagrin and shock of her friends. When she declares that she has chosen her friend and fellow novelist - Emory Billingsworth - the girls are quite taken aback. Her best friend Jeannette Talbot's brother is the Earl of Selby - Banning Talbot. Banning and Avis have always been at odds, always bickering and at each other's throats. When Sophie, one of the Avis's friends, and the most outspoken of the lot approaches Banning and tells her of Avis' decision and who she has chosen he decides that he has to step in and save her. Billingsworth has a tarnished reputation of treating women badly and is a cad - even though Banning has been physically attracted to Avis since they shared a kiss eight years past - he feels honor bound to warm Avis. When Avis completely dismisses his warnings he has no choice but to blackmail her into having the affair with him. If she is going to ruin herself and give up her virginity - he is dammed well going to be the one up for the task!! They leave London for his estate in the countryside - a charming cottage. Avis has bad motion sickness and is ill the through the whole carriage trip and much to Avis' surprise, Banning is caring and considerate to her plight. Banning has had a secret attraction to Avis - he is looking for a wife and the more he gets to know her the more he realizes that she is the perfect match. The problem is trying to convince her to marry him as Avis has sworn never to marry because of the marriage her parents had. The two weeks that they spend together are pure bliss - both fall in love but fail to admit it, and soon their idyllic time in the countryside comes to an end. Christie Kelley has penned gem of a Regency - a very unusual and fast paced, sensual story. Keep a look out for her next installments as Kelley has a bright future indeed! Brava Ms. Kelley - this one was fab!

Delightful twist on classic theme,
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Every Night I'm Yours (Zebra Historical Romance) (Paperback)
Though Ms Kelley uses the classic theme of a young maid who wants to know more about the intimacies of the bedroom, the reason for the interest is a new twist on this classic theme. This interest is purely professional as this charming heroine is a romance writer and though never married wants to give her characters more reality. Though the period is regency the author is able to get the reader to suspend disbelief that a young miss of this era would set out on such a romp and she does it well.
The hero and heroine are well matched and the conflicts both internal and external are clearly defined and believable. Though they are classic conflicts this author's writing doesn't disappoint: providing the readers with plenty of sexual tension leading up to the inevitable intimacies. She doesn't bog the reader down with excessive narration and keeps the flow of the story within the realm of the actions of the characters. Very little getting into the heads of the characters here, much to this readers delight. What makes this such a delightful read is how well the book is written: pace, characterization, plot which clearly shows the author understands what romance readers want in a fun romp. If you are looking for an intense story of intrigue or historical backdrop this isn't the book, but if you want an uncomplicated romp with intense sexual tension and characters you will enjoy for the time you are with them then this is a must read!! Don't be fooled by the value price on this book, the read is worth twice the price here.

I loved this book,
By
This review is from: Every Night I'm Yours (Zebra Historical Romance) (Paperback)
I was a little worried when I saw the length of the book. I love a big detailed book so I was afraid it would be very shallow plotwise. I'm also not a huge romance reader. And all that being said, I really enjoyed this book. At first I thought the premise was going to be hard to accept but the way that Christie Kelly writes really brings you along. Her characters have depth and are interesting. Her love scenes are fresh and different each time. I read the whole book in one sitting. I had no desire to put it down until I knew what was going to happen with Avis and Banning. What a pleasant surprise. I even found myself picking it back up today to re-read portions of it. I would recommend it in a heartbeat!
