2.0 out of 5 stars Wallpaper Historical Romance (C Grade)
Every Night I'm Yours has the same old plot with a spinster heroine who wants to know what passion is, mainly for her romances she writes. She doesn't even want to think about marriage because of her daddy issues. It seems dad abused her mother, which may have led to her death. Numerous very talented new authors are being showcased by Zebra publications at a surprisingly affordable price of $3.99! Such is the case with new rising author - Christie Kelley and her new novel EVERY NIGHT I'M YOURS.

The plot is surprisingly fresh and Kelley's writing style is absolutely wonderful. Descriptive, funny and enchanting the story flows across the pages full of sizzle and sexual tension.

Lady Avis Copley is an aspiring novelist. She defies convention by living alone, being a writer and at her age - a spinster in the Ton. Surrounded by very strong and loyal friends she is self sufficient, has money and is the very picture of happy spinsterhood. That is until she discovers an erotica book and she realizes that what is lacking in her writings is the emotion of love and sexual overtones. So she decides to take a lover much to the chagrin and shock of her friends. When she declares that she has chosen her friend and fellow novelist - Emory Billingsworth - the girls are quite taken aback.

Her best friend Jeannette Talbot's brother is the Earl of Selby - Banning Talbot. Banning and Avis have always been at odds, always bickering and at each other's throats. When Sophie, one of the Avis's friends, and the most outspoken of the lot approaches Banning and tells her of Avis' decision and who she has chosen he decides that he has to step in and save her. Billingsworth has a tarnished reputation of treating women badly and is a cad - even though Banning has been physically attracted to Avis since they shared a kiss eight years past - he feels honor bound to warm Avis. When Avis completely dismisses his warnings he has no choice but to blackmail her into having the affair with him. If she is going to ruin herself and give up her virginity - he is dammed well going to be the one up for the task!!

They leave London for his estate in the countryside - a charming cottage. Avis has bad motion sickness and is ill the through the whole carriage trip and much to Avis' surprise, Banning is caring and considerate to her plight.

Banning has had a secret attraction to Avis - he is looking for a wife and the more he gets to know her the more he realizes that she is the perfect match. The problem is trying to convince her to marry him as Avis has sworn never to marry because of the marriage her parents had.

The two weeks that they spend together are pure bliss - both fall in love but fail to admit it, and soon their idyllic time in the countryside comes to an end.

Christie Kelley has penned gem of a Regency - a very unusual and fast paced, sensual story. Keep a look out for her next installments as Kelley has a bright future indeed! Brava Ms. Kelley - this one was fab!

4.0 out of 5 stars Delightful twist on classic theme, March 9, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Every Night I'm Yours (Zebra Historical Romance) (Paperback)
Though Ms Kelley uses the classic theme of a young maid who wants to know more about the intimacies of the bedroom, the reason for the interest is a new twist on this classic theme. This interest is purely professional as this charming heroine is a romance writer and though never married wants to give her characters more reality. Though the period is regency the author is able to get the reader to suspend disbelief that a young miss of this era would set out on such a romp and she does it well.

The hero and heroine are well matched and the conflicts both internal and external are clearly defined and believable. Though they are classic conflicts this author's writing doesn't disappoint: providing the readers with plenty of sexual tension leading up to the inevitable intimacies. She doesn't bog the reader down with excessive narration and keeps the flow of the story within the realm of the actions of the characters. Very little getting into the heads of the characters here, much to this readers delight.

What makes this such a delightful read is how well the book is written: pace, characterization, plot which clearly shows the author understands what romance readers want in a fun romp. If you are looking for an intense story of intrigue or historical backdrop this isn't the book, but if you want an uncomplicated romp with intense sexual tension and characters you will enjoy for the time you are with them then this is a must read!! Don't be fooled by the value price on this book, the read is worth twice the price here.

5.0 out of 5 stars I loved this book, March 20, 2008

I was a little worried when I saw the length of the book. I love a big detailed book so I was afraid it would be very shallow plotwise. I'm also not a huge romance reader. And all that being said, I really enjoyed this book. At first I thought the premise was going to be hard to accept but the way that Christie Kelly writes really brings you along. Her characters have depth and are interesting. Her love scenes are fresh and different each time. I read the whole book in one sitting. I had no desire to put it down until I knew what was going to happen with Avis and Banning. What a pleasant surprise. I even found myself picking it back up today to re-read portions of it. I would recommend it in a heartbeat!

4.0 out of 5 stars A lot more happens than a regular romance novel, May 5, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Every Night I'm Yours (Zebra Historical Romance) (Paperback)
When I was about 20% through the book, all of the things that happen in a romance novel had happened: they had sex, they fell in love. I wondered what would happen in the next pages. Well, a lot happened, including the misunderstandings and hidden apprehensions about love and commitment that are also standard in romance novels.

Avis and Banning are wierd names for main characters and I kept being distracted my that. However, they were good characters, with well-developed and believable flaws that were suspensfully revealed to the other. Avis was a strong woman and Banning a sensitive man, and their friends were also enjoyable minor characters, including Jennette, Sophie, Miss Roebuck and Banning's mother. I had to laugh when Avis foiled Miss Roebuck's plan of trapping Banning into marrying her by Avis admitting to the scandalous affair between her and Banning. I also thought that the character of Billingsworth was one of the best-written villains I have read in a long while, since he just becomes more devious as the book goes along, and again, his deceit and wickedness were truly believable.

The part where Avis lives alone and is open to others that she is a writer is a bit hard to swallow in Regency England, where every woman had a male protector, and even Jane Austen hid her writing to all but close connections.

The sexy parts were well-written, steamy yet not gratuitous, romantic without losing the intended eroticism.

5.0 out of 5 stars Avis and Banning..., March 1, 2011
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
As an avid romance novel reader, I loved the premise...aspiring novelist wants to expand her horizons...Avis (the heroine) has one person in mind, Banning (the hero) has other ideas...NOT that he has a lasting relationship in mind! (Of course!) The banter/dialogue helps...some unthought of kindness as well...changing one or two mind(s)add to the dilemma...a definite read!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Romantic Read, January 31, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
As an avid reader, I don't feel as if quite so many books deserve five stars. The exception would be my first read from Christie Kelley who does a superb job in creating 'livable' characters spanning the entire course of the book. Details, details, details! Bravo Christie Kelley in keeping my kindle turning pages with very little sleep. She doesn't just end a chapter where one would think they could stop for the evening but leaves you hanging so that the next few pages MUST be read until one can absolutely NOT keep their eyes open! Although Banning and Avis were BOUND to be together in the end, it was a fantastic read to follow them through their loving, touching, and and scandalous journey. Keep them coming Christie Kelley - gotta love those spinsters!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of my favorites, December 29, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I read 4-5 historical/regency romances each week; yes, Amazon adores me. I bought this one over a year ago, yet I still go back to it to reread it every few weeks. I love Banning (the hero), but I love when he loses control and finally expresses his true intentions more than anything. I have read the rest of the books in this series as well and would recommend them to anyone who likes to read about love, romance, and great sex.

4.0 out of 5 stars A very good "fluffy" romance novel, January 15, 2011
This was a well-written book, and just what I expected from a historical romance. The plot was well executed and the love scenes were just steamy enough. This is definitely worth the small price tag!
