greatest baseball books, November 18, 1999
By A Customer
I just saw Mr. Swirsky speak in St. Louis and then heard him on a national radio show--he's the most passionate guy--not only on baseball...anyway, i bought his two books "Every pitcher Tells A Story" and "Baseball Letters". Needless to say, I'm writing this because I was so taken by the beauty and honesty of his books. I've now bought a number of more copies for my dad and brothers, etc. I can hardly wait til the Holidays to see their faces when they open theeir presents and see these books!

An incredible journey into the world of baseball!, November 6, 1999
"A rare treasure of a book," raves Billy Crystal -- and I couldn't agree more! This natural follow-up to Swirsky's first gem entitled, "Baseball Letters," is an amazing journey through the world of baseball -- via correspondence between the author and numerous past and present All-Star pitchers. The book includes around 100 letters to, and from, some of the most influential pitchers in the game of baseball. The letters are accompanied by magnificent photographs and spectacular memorabilia. Absolutely fascinating! Reading this book was truly thrilling for me - as I'm sure it will be for all you baseball fans out there! This riveting book warms your soul, and gives you the opportunity to peek inside the minds of some of the greatest athletes in baseball history. I highly recommend "Every Pitcher Tells A Story" (Times Books, 1999). It's the perfect gift for a friend, family member, or just about anyone - or just a great "treat" for yourself! Enjoy the magic!

The #1 BOOK!, December 27, 1999
My favorite part in this book is Turk Wendall's story. It is so funny. This book is very interesting and teaches you stuff you never knew before. Seth writes to pitchers asking them a uestion. The pitcher then returns with an answer and it is published. This is a great book and fun for anyone who likes baseball. If you have do not forget to read page 20 Turk Wendall's story.

Billy Crystal is right!, October 1, 1999
By A Customer
Billy Crystal, the actor and baseball fan wrote a 'blurb' on the cover of Seth Swirsky's new book. It says (Every pitcher Tells Story is) 'A rare treasure of a book'. He couldn't be more right. I learned so much about the people who play or have played baseball from this unique book.the book itself is filled with handwritten letters, just as mr. swirsky received them. it's fascinating. carl mays' letter wa unbelievable-- he was the only man to kill a man with a pitch-- here he offers his explanation of that unfortunate occurence. I loved David Cone's letter analyzing why the Yankees of '98 were so potent. my favorite rogr clemens reveals who he looked up to growing up--his grandmother and mother. It really was amazing to read the over 100 letters in this book-- it's like discovering, in an attic, someone's correspondence with these interesting people. The pictures were also fantastic. Again, like Mr. Crystal said, a true treasure trove of a book.

Unique book, October 18, 1999
By A Customer
I've been watching this year's exciting playoffs and then saw Mr. Swirsky on TV so I went out to buy this book. After devouring it (try putting it done once you've opened it!), I then went out to buy his first one--"Baseball Letters". I notice that every time I am watching a game now, and a player comes to bat that Mr. Swirsky has gotten a letter from, I feel like I know the guy who's playing so much better. The actual letters bring you closer to the players. The histories the author adds (with some very neat photographs) are fascinating as well as informative. Sportscasters like Bob Costas or Joe Morgan should read these books --it would add tremendous depth to their analysis. This is a book you keep on your coffee table.

AWESOME!, June 10, 2000
This book is great! It's a quick read but fascinating! The photographs are excellent and the handwritten replies give you a really cool perspective on the players. This book is one you will keep on the coffee table, so you can always pick it up and read a letter--especially the one regarding Shoeless Joe Jackson--it's touching.

Saw on GMA, October 29, 1999
By A Customer
Just saw the piece Charles Gibson did on Good Morning America (since when is GMA impressed enough to do a piece on a book!). I knew of Mr. Swirsky's first book "Baseball Letters" which I bought for my father and grandfather. Though my grandad passed away last year, he considered it his favorite gift he ever received from me over 30 years. Obviously, I've ben waiting for Mr. Swirsky's new book and was glad to know it was out. I'm only on page 57, but am loving it so much, I thought I'd say so.

Taught me a few lessons, October 29, 1999
By A Customer
I just saw Charlie Gibson on Good Morning America interview Mr. Swirsky for his book--it was amazing. I went out and bought the book right away and I do not regret it it all. As a matter of fact, I cannot put it down,it is so comprhensive. I'm what is known as a 'die-hrad' fan who thinks he knows all there is to know about the game's history. Well, Mr. swirsky has taught me a lesson or two!

amazing, October 28, 1999
By A Customer
I've loved baseball since the 20s when my dad took me to old comiskey park--i saw the greats;the Babe, Lou Gehrig, they all came through. This book brings me back to those days and those great feelings with my father. Thank you Mr. Swirsky for your foresight in chronicling these stories and anecdotes.
