4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting interpretations
Interesting interpretations of prophetic nature. With the scripture located within the same sentence as the interpretation, it leaves the reader the choice of whether or not to dispute. I found the book really interesting and giving me a different view and a different way on how to read the Bible. I recommend those that are interested in understanding the prophesies,...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good for beginners
This book is fair when it comes to details, but appears overly short in the meaning and linking Bible prophecy for the many locations covered. One thing in the author's favor -- he does not speculate about prophecy.

This book contains every verse in the Bible which is a prophecy, whether fulfilled or yet to be fulfilled. Mr. Walvoord is today's leading scholar on all things prophetic and he knows his stuff. Stick with him and you can't go wrong. I have found this book very helpful for looking up single verses for sermons as well as good commentary reading. Highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent resource for Biblical prophecy, August 25, 2001

This book is a definite must for anyone interested in studying Biblical prophecy. Dr. Walvoord has done a great job of compiling every single prophecy recorded in the Bible (no, I haven't independently verified this). Dr. Walvoord provides a great deal of commentary that sheds some light on the prophecies and the book is laid out in such a way that finding information is quick and easy -- a major plus for researching related prophecies scattered throughout the Bible. In addition to this book, I highly recommend books on prophecy by Tim LaHaye. I've found that different scholars provide slightly different interpretations to some prophecies and it's good to explore the different views.

John Walvoord is an excellent author and (not surprisingly) chancellor of Dallas Theological Seminary (the Harvard of Seminaries). His study of the Bible is on par with the great bible teachers of yesteryear. He's also the author of the excellent "The Bible Knowledge Commentary."

Some viewing this book will not give it a chance the moment they see that he holds a pre-tribulational rapture viewpoint. But that aside I believe any intellectually-honest person should serve to gain tremendously from this book even if they come to a different conclusion in that (previous) vain.

Pick it up and give it an honest read. You'll become much more educated and valuable in biblical conversations.

Just as promised. Every prophecy of the Bible.

Pick it up and put it down time after time. It reads like a series of short stories.

Buy this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Clear and comprehensive, March 12, 2008
This review is from: Every Prophecy of the Bible: Clear Explanations for Uncertain Times by One of Today's Premier Prophecy Scholars (Paperback)
They say that nearly one-third of the Bible involves prophecy. This book, written by a man generally acknowledged as an authority on the subject, is an essential tool for grasping the significance of the hundreds of predictions that have already come true ... and getting ready for those that have yet to be fulfilled.

I rate this book 4 stars because it is an abridged version of his earlier book: "The Prophecy Knowledge Handbook" ISBN: 0896935094 Link: The Prophecy Knowledge Handbook: All the Prophecies of Scripture Explained in One Volume
The missing part from this book are the following:
Appendix A: Prophecies of the Old Testament
Appendix B: Prophecies of the New Testament
These appendixes are in a 3 column format listing all prophecies:
prophecy description -> Location in the Bible -> Fulfillment
Unfortunatelly "The Prophecy Knowledge Handbook" book is out of print but you might find secondhand here at amazon.

Other usefull books on prophecy:
Encyclopedia of Biblical Prophecy by Barton Payne - (out of print) paperback and hardback
Major Bible Prophecies by John Walvoord - Good reading and study
Understanding End Times Prophecy: Comprehensive Approch
by Paul Benware - Comparison of views on eschatology
The Temple and Bible Prophecy by Randall Price - Exhaustive, serious study.
The Greatness of the Kingdom by Alva McClain - Theology, Its a classic.
Israelology: The Missing Link in Systematic Theology
by Arnold Fruchtenbaum ISBN: 0914863053

And definatelly the Best is : The Footsteps of the Messiah by Arnold Fruchtenbaum
ISBN: 0914863096
amazon Link : Footsteps of the Messiah

4.0 out of 5 stars Not a one-sitting read, May 2, 2010

This review is from: Every Prophecy of the Bible: Clear Explanations for Uncertain Times by One of Today's Premier Prophecy Scholars (Paperback)
This book is 646 pages of information that can and should be cross-referenced. Don't expect to be able to read it within a few days. It is a summary of the Old Testament and New Testament jam packed with incites to theological history, Jewish customs and traditions, and a variety of interpretations. A prerequisite reading should at least be the Old and New Testaments.

Mr. Walvoord did a tremendous job with research. Not all readers, including myself, will agree on every point- but that goes for any topic of study. I found his coverage of the books of Daniel and Zechariah most interesting. The chapters are orderly and his explanations are free of clutter. This book has many answers, but also posed a number of questions that I will enjoy doing more research on in the future.

This review is from: Every Prophecy of the Bible: Clear Explanations for Uncertain Times by One of Today's Premier Prophecy Scholars (Paperback)
This book has all the important Bible propehcies and I can use it as a desk reference when I study the Bible. But I drew my diagrams of Ezekiel's millenial temple in 1998 before I had bought this book. You do not need to know any Greek or Hebrew to use this book and benefit from it. It is in simple layman's language. After I had purchased this book, I felt strongly led to go on and study the two Olivet Discourses Matthew 24 and Luke 21 for my now-published e-book APOCALYPSE! The artwork on the cover must have had some iind of annointing on it because it made me think of the Middle East crisis and say the time is short and lets get moving on finishing my prophecy e-book! That cover sort of looks like the End of the World!

This review is from: Every Prophecy of the Bible: Clear Explanations for Uncertain Times by One of Today's Premier Prophecy Scholars (Paperback)
This is a good book to have in your library, but don't believe it's complete when it says "every" prophecy...

You need the complete bible for that.

Anyway, it's a good start, a good reference source, but don't depend on it alone.
