After seeing that "Hey There Delilah" was #1 on Billboard's Hot 100, I listened to a 30-second clip from the song, and liked it - not only because it was a catchy song, but also because it was different (i.e., *not* "Party Like a Rock Star"). Then I came here, where I saw that the album had a decidedly average ranking, and very few reviews written for it. That last bit surprised me, given the length of time the single had been on the chart (16 weeks when it hit #1).

I read all of the reviews here, and after reading a particularly negative review, I decided that I wanted to buy the CD. There's a pet peeve I have with people who disregard pop songs simply because they're pop songs. (Like the Lennon - McCartney debate. Lennon wrote the more meaningful songs, but McCartney was far more successful on the charts because he wrote pop songs, and was fine with it. "Silly Love Songs" was his ode to that philosophy, and is one of my favorite songs from him because of it.) Not everything needs to be deep and meaningful. I look at it like this: regarding films, I love heart ripping dramas - Schindler's List - but I also love movies that make me laugh, like South Park. There's a place for almost everything.

That I purchased the CD and gave it a shot couldn't have made me happier. I'm delighted with it. Sure, as some reviews say, the lyrics on a few songs aren't clever and on a couple of occasions are hokey, but excepting those few instances, the lyrics stand strong. Also, this is an eminently listenable CD. Don't confuse that with "muzak". These guys really have a knack at writing hooks, and if "Hey There Delilah" appeals to people, I have a feeling several other songs may find their way onto Billboard's Hot 100 as well.

The rest of the CD is very solid. If you're on the edge and like songs with great hooks - NOT bubble gum pop at all - you'll probably like this. As I said: eminently listenable, and also supremely enjoyable.

lets revisit the history of the band plain white t's. their debut album "stop" was a very anthem filled songs about life and relationships that would appeal to mostly to people in highschool or perhaps young college students. this being said because the album talks alot about doing something with your life at pivotal moments and of course relationships.

next, came their highly anticipated "all that we needed" album and it had more of a 80's power pop/dance sound to it along with some of the songs possibly being mistaken for the band "the cars". it had a more diverse vibe to it and i could see it appealing to highschoolers and most definitely college students.

than this summer they released "hey there delilah ep" which was a solid ep which could appeal to many young adults with its mature sound to it.

i figured since the ep was so good, that their debut for major label, hollywood records, would be fantastic. well, just the opposite folks. the plain white t's have went backwards on "every second counts". i mean way backwards...back even before their debut album "stop". i say this because the whole theme of the album is about relationships, relationships, and relationships. after about halfway through the album it sounds like you're listening to a broken record. OKAY, I GET IT! some girl screwed you over, and then you screwed her over and now you really don't like each other anymore.

the lyrics is what really kills this album along with the cliche songs. the lyrics in their first single, "hate (i really don't like you)" is a perfect example of this. it cringes to repeat the chorus so i'm not even going to do it. i mean, the lyrics sound like junior high drama instead of maturer songs about life which were in their previous albums.

bottom line, they went to writing songs that highschoolers and young adults could relate to, to writing songs that junior high kids could relate to. i'm sorry, but that's not progression. i guess another word you could throw at these guys is "sellout" because that could very well be the case here. i'm just going to pretend they didn't release this and enjoy their other albums. don't get me wrong, the songs are catchy and all but the album just gets old and tiring after halfway through. i can't recommend this or not recommend this to anyone. old fans might enjoy, but also despise it like i do. anyways, their other albums are good so buy them before you ever even consider buying this one. download first...

I simply loved this cd. From songs with a quick beat like Friends Don't Let Friends Dial Drunk to toning it down with Write You A Song. They have a familiar sound but to me it's unique. The lyrics are all solid. I don't know how anyone could not like the acoustic Hey There Delilah, it's probably one of the sweetest songs on the radio today. Overall, I recommend this cd to anyone.

This is an successfully satisfying album that I personally enjoyed. There was not one song that I didn't like, and its probably like that with everyone else. I recommend this album on many levels, great songs like "So Damn Clever" & "Hate" are popular and fun songs for everyone to enjoy. This band sings about relationships and stuff teens and other people cant relate to, that's what makes it so popular. I recommend this album for everyone and hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

While I can't say that I know every track by heart yet, I think the CD is pretty good. Everyone on here can't seem to agree on whether they are good or bad, but they really are good! Take it from me...a guy with over 250 CDs in my collection. This CD has inspired me to buy their other 2 releases as well... HOWEVER BE WARNED!!!!!! If you are basing the purchase of this CD off of the hit song "Hey There Delilah" you will be in for a suprise....the rest of the CD boasts nothing even similiar to this song. I believe Plain White T's are goning to be the next big thing....just give them a chance

Plain White T's delivers a solid cd of emo & pop-punk tracks. My favorites include "It's Our Time", "Making a Memory", and "Hey There Delilah". The best aspect of this cd, to me, is the perfect "warm-weather drive"-ness. It is an excellent cd for rolling all the windows down and singing along with when you are driving about. Every track has a great sing-along aspect. It has catchy, upbeat songs, and a few slower acoustics. It's a very enjoyable cd, but nothing groundbreaking or remarkable that sets it apart. For the current price ($9.99), there is no harm in picking it up and keeping it in the cd case for those summer days!

Plain White T's are another one of those punk-pop bands whose first few albums went unnoticed, but then their recent material got picked up by MTV, thus giving them some exposure. I say "some" because few people seem to own Every Second Counts, but I decided to check it out anyway.

I really didn't think I would like this album all that much because the only song I ever heard from them was the aptly titled "Hate (I Really Don't Like You)". But there are much better songs than that, particularly the first two tracks: "Our Time Now" and "Come Back to Me". And while the acoustic "Write You a Song" is passable, an even better choice would be "Hey There Delilah", a revamped track from the EP of the same name.

But then there's the dud track "Friends Don't Let Friends Dial Drunk", as well as a couple of lyrically challenged songs: "You and Me" and "Figure It Out" (which is indeed hard to figure out: "I'll figure it out as soon as I figure it out"?). Basically, while Every Second Counts isn't a waste of time, the guys should do something to make themselves stand out more because right now they'll probably be considered as one of those "other" emo bands.

For their major label debut, the Plain White T's deliver an album loaded with catchy hooks, relatable lyrics, and smooth rock melodies. Forget all of those trendy bands of the week; Plain White T's are the real deal with their simple and tried and true formula. I hope these guys get the chance to thrive.

It was a gift for my Father for his birthday. He loves it. No problems with the CD at all.

I am a 46 year old woman that just wanted a CD with Hey There Deliah on it and was THRILLED with every song on this CD! Can't wait for their future CD's!
