You the Man, Davis!,
By rodboomboom (Dearborn, Michigan United States) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) (HALL OF FAME REVIEWER)
This review is from: Every Shot I Take (Hardcover)
Davis is so classy a person and a talented golfer. What about that shot on 17th at Augusta? This book tugs at your heart relating the death of his father. Then the episode with his first major and the rainbow. His brother caddying. The eleven cent putting drill (I keep the putter and eleven cents in the den for practice since then.) This endures many who never pulled for this humble man cheer for another big win for DL3 and the rest of his legion fans pull for another title for our hero! Keep on being you, DL3. You and Freddie are our guys. Thanks for this read.

The Best Most Inspirational Book I've Ever Read!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Every Shot I Take (Hardcover)
This is a very inspirational book and is more than just a plain golf book. I am 12 years old and a big fan of Davis Love 3. This showed me what golf was all about. There were many hints and tips that guided me through my gof years so far and I believe this to be the best book i've ever read.

Every Shot I Take...,

This review is from: Every Shot I Take (Hardcover)
Every shot I take is a classic peace written by my favorite golfer, Davis Love III. This book portays his relationship with his father and how this father, Davis Love Jr., helped him on his way to success and on his way to becoming a great golfer and American. This book tells about this Davis Jr., Masters debut in 1988. The U.S.G.A. Book of the year was truly amazing and I would read it again and again.

Wonderfully powerful and insightful reading.,
This review is from: Every Shot I Take (Hardcover)
Even if you are not a true golf fan, this is one book you should read. The instructional tips are inevitably useful and the inspiration that you receive will stay with you. For all of us who idolized our fathers, this book expresses those feelings wonderfully and compassionately. Thank you for writing this book Davis.

useful advice and golf philosophy,

Davis Love III has gone through his father's wealth of teaching information and provided it to the golfer. The book is written in short chapters that are easy to read. It contains a lot of teaching drills that are effective and easy to practice. It is evident that Davis learned much from his father - both about golf and life. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book.

This is great story in the relationship between father and son, and mother, brother, family... well i hope you get the picture! It shows so well the need to know when to let go and to never forget all the lessons of life. It is very touching and would be great for all those fathers that have that great athletes that they are "training"! KNOW when to let go....

A warm, personal glimpse into the life of a champion.,
By A Customer
This review is from: Every Shot I Take (Hardcover)
It is ironic that this book was released mere months before Davis' victory in the 1997 PGA Championship; ironic that to win a major tournament was his lifelong goal and his beloved late father's fervent wish. For those who both read this book and witnessed Davis' victory, one can attest that the emotional ending marked by the enormous double rainbow over the eighteenth green was a fitting postscript to Davis' testimony. This auto-biography is unique in its structure: Davis regales the reader with anecdotes, incidents and life history, interspersed with numerous (and incidentally, very helpful) golf tips. Chapters by his wife and brother/caddie effectively complement his own reflections. Davis Love III has long suffered the impression of being a frowning, intense golfer. This book dispels any such misconceptions and reveals a true gentleman in the arena of professional sports that is far too lacking in postive role models.

I recently read this book and I was thoroughly pleased. I think the book offers many helpful tips and drills for golfers of all skill levels. It also tells a great story about Davis' family and the relationship he had with his father. A couple of chapters are heart wrenching when he discusses his father's plane crash and how the family had to deal with his death. I think that all golfers will like this book.
