I was totally in LOVE with this book! Although the information on canning may be dated, the recipes are wonderful, not to mention the additional advice on every other way of preserving I have heard of. I was only expecting a canning book but there was info. on drying, root cellaring, smoking etc. I guess the idea that this book was written when my dead grandpa was only a few years old and that his own mother could have read it and used the recipes in it, I was amazing to me. I can't get over how advanced the techniques were for the time. If you want a guide for modern techniques this will not be the book for you but if you want recipes and advice on many other ways of preserving food you will be happy with the information. If you are a history buff like me you will be smitten! Thanks for offering this book.

Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
I am really interested in learning to can, especially cold pack method. I bought "Every Step in Canning, The Cold Pack method" because of the title. Now I feel duped as this book was written in the 1920's on methods know at that time. Much safer methods are now known so this book is a confusing waste of time. The title should make reference to it's historical nature. Like, "Old & Risky Ways to Preserve Food".
