Show Off Your Stereo WIth This One,
By Bob Feeser "MillCrafters.com" (Springfield, PA USA) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) (TOP 500 REVIEWER)
This review is from: Every Step of the Way (Audio CD)
I listen to this CD all of the time. Not only because it is well written and performed, but even moreso because it was digitally mastered. The net result is that your stereo shines with it. Absolutely no distortion, the highs are crystal clear and the low really gets your sub or regular woofer kickin. Great CD across the board. Their isn't a single bad cut.Another great album for making your stereo shine is Lee Ritenour's with Wes Montgomery's "Wes Bound" When friends come over and you start talking sound systems, they both are great. I first heard David Benoits CD when I visited a high end stereo store, and that is what they were using to sell their equipment. Highly recommended.

A Real Feel Good CD,

This one stands the test of time. The harmonic vocals on Key To You from the pop group Ambrosia lend a taste of familiarity and pastel contrast to this piano based masterpiece performed by the genius of Benoit...

Just browsing on Amazon and I am surprised & shocked that nobody has written a review for this album. This is one of the smoothest album I have ever heard - words simply fail me. Do yourself a favour...you won't be disappointed.

I decided to write this review since I am listening again to this CD after many years of owning it. I remember I listened to the "Sao Paulo" track and was desperate enough to call the TV station to find out the name. They obviously refused to give it to me. Years passed and then I had the luck to hear the same music in a public event, went to the DJ and he handed the CD to me. Importing CDs at that time to my country was a major difficulty, so I asked for a friend to bring it to me by special catalog request. Until this day I remember this. Beautifully and digitally mastered, it will complete your "smooth" (I prefer contemporary) jazz collection with nice vocals and very "singable" tunes. (you will remember them). Tracks (some of them, like No Worries) feature Nathan East, and I can listen them 30 times over and over.In short: Go get it and remember my story when you listen to São Paulo. Enjoy it forever. Cheers.

Track 1 is the title track. I love most of all track 2, 5, 6. I expected more from track 3, with David Pack Lead Vocal. I appreciate the cover of I just can't stop loving you from MJ.

This album is a must for those of you who simply enjoy music. I first heard this on album in the Philippines in 1988 and immediately added it to my collection. Once available on CD I obtained the "Digital Master" (now for the second time) because this is one David Benoit's finest moments in music along with masterful arrangements and collaborating artists. From the title cut to the final song, the instruments are clearly heard, the rhythms touch your soul and the arrangements cause you to reflect, or just smile. With contributing artists like Nathan East, Stanley Clark, Jerry Hey, David Pack, Harvey Mason, and Russ Freeman to name a few, this is a CD to place high in your collection of fine music.

One of Benoit's Top 5 Recordings,

I first listened to this album back in '88. I was only 13 years young at that time but David Benoit's beautifully written pieces from this particular period blew me away. It sort of started me onto the musical path. Shibuya Station inspires; Painted Desert moves you with its' moody arrangement; The Key to You is now a classic; and the rest of his compositions found here are sure to make your drive home from work well worth it.

I need to say that this is his BEST CD out there. His ones w/ Russ Freeman come close. If your looking for a good David Benoit CD ,look no further. This is the one. Buy it. You'll be really glad you did.

My reference standard for contemporary keyboard Jazz,

I couldn't resist adding another 5-star review. I rediscovered this album this week when I found myself plinking out (badly, very badly) some of the melodies on the little Yamaha keyboard my son received for his birthday. A brilliant recording of a brilliant pianist. "Remembering What You Said" is one of the most memorable and moving melodies I've ever heard.

I have listened to this album countless times. Every time is just as magical as the first. Even if you are not a contemporary jazz fan, there is nothing else quite like it.
