5.0 out of 5 stars Exceptional Artist, Fantastic Release!
Stevie Vai's Favored Nations label has now branched out to cover acoustic artists recently signing Tommy Emmanuel, Peter Huttlinger, Pierre Bensusan and Peppino D'Agostino. These acoustic performers offer a dramatic contrast in style to the electric side of the house which features the likes of Stevie Vai, Greg Koch, Eric Johnson's Alien Love Child and Greg Bissonette...

This is brutal stuff folks. I mean come on how cheesy can you get, it is best to ignore it at all costs. I advise you to try some early Gentle Giant like 'Three Friends' instead of this.

Stevie Vai's Favored Nations label has now branched out to cover acoustic artists recently signing Tommy Emmanuel, Peter Huttlinger, Pierre Bensusan and Peppino D'Agostino. These acoustic performers offer a dramatic contrast in style to the electric side of the house which features the likes of Stevie Vai, Greg Koch, Eric Johnson's Alien Love Child and Greg Bissonette. The artists here are every bit as accomplished as their electric counterparts but, as with D'Agostino's latest release, offer a mellow and more relaxed view of the fret board. On this release, D'Agostino plays some of the instrumental guitar solos which he wrote over the last 35 years. While not a true greatest hits CD, it is a selection by the artist of some of his personal favorites. For good measure, Peppino throws in two new compositions, "The Blue Ocean" and "Under The Same Sky". On all tracks Peppino's nylon strings sing out beautifully and without compromise.

This is a fantastically diverse collection of moodscapes for acoustic guitar; Peppino is a true original, and while his playing often features impressive technical flourishes, it also has a deeper, lyrical quality that makes a lasting impression in your consciousness. Just listen to "Costa Rica" turned up a bit to get the feel of the brightness and energy that this Italian-born maestro channels into the instrument. For a real treat, catch Peppino live!

I have never purchased a strictly instrumental CD before, but this is an amazing work. Calming and pleasing notes and tones deliver more than I expected. This is the best CD I have ever bought. Each song delivers an unexpected treat. Usually a CD has one great song and several so-so. Not here. They are all an experience of greatness. Loved it!

Excellent!! An outstanding guitarist. You must listen to this while cooking and having a glass of wine. My wife and I enjoy all of his work. His music takes you somewhere else. It makes you look at life a different way.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wish I could play the guitar . . . like Peppino D'Agostino, September 14, 2011

Peppino D'Agostino is one of those musicians that if you ever get a chance to hear them perform you really need to take the time to experience their talent. Although I have not heard him in person, I can tell from this recording that he is an unusually gifted guitarist. The music in this album in particular is the kind that allows your mind to ponder on things ethereal, to the point that it evokes creativity. I am currently working as a designer and when my thoughts get stuck in a rut (which does happen occasionally) listening to music such as "Every Step Of The Way" helps my mind to unlock new inspiration.
