Editorial Reviews

Gripping vocals, pure poetic lyrics and hard hitting melody is the explosive core of Mike Younger’s sophomore effort, Every Stone You Throw Every Stone You Throw is a Rock & Roll record that draws heavily from the Blues, Rhythm & Blues, Soul, Gospel and Country, but through arrangement and production is rendered undeniably contemporary. The songs speak to the issues of the day, ranging from the topical to the personal, taking the listener on a vivid journey through the writer’s struggle to remain steadfast in his devotion to his art despite the obstacles thrown in his path by life, the business and the social upheavals of the times. With rich instrumentation by an amazing band of seasoned players, this record combines the approach of the classic 60s folk singers with the punch of contemporary rockers like Springsteen and Mellencamp, crafting a tightly produced, hook-laden rock album appealing to indie, folk, rock and pop fans alike. The players that make up The Mike Younger Group are Louie Appel on drums (John Eddie, Debbie Gibson, Southside Johnny), Skip Ward on bass (Angela McCluskey, The Wild Colonials) and Bob Packwood on piano and keys (Oh Susanna, Tandy, The Yayhoos, Eric "Roscoe" Amble, Liz Tormes, The Damnwells, Rebecca Hall, The Dark Horses & Mary Lee Kortes.).

5.0 out of 5 stars What Can I Say??, May 25, 2006
This review is from: Every Stone You Throw (Audio CD)
This is, without exception, the best record you can buy right now. Every track speaks to you, every track embodies your mind and soul. I love the delta blues-like rendition of "Devil's On The Rise" to the insightful inspirational "Together". This is songwriting at it's very best, with a great backing band. Mike Younger's vocals and songwriting, to me, are very reminiscent of John Mellencamp. How could you go wrong buying this record?

4.0 out of 5 stars YOU MUST BUY THIS RECORD, February 17, 2006
This review is from: Every Stone You Throw (Audio CD)
I heard a song from Mike Younger on Napster.com and fell in love with the music. There is something about the voice, the lyrics, the passion that comes through in his songs that I have not heard in a long time. I have never bought an entire CD from an artist that I heard on iTunes or Napster but my friends, I bought this one. This artists is a sleeper, let's get him in the limelight and show the music industry what they are missing. Mike Younger is what we want to hear...honest, raw, sexy! Spinning our thoughts into his stories...I wonder if he is married or if he wants to get married :-)

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Brilliant, February 17, 2006

Run, don't walk, to get this one boys and girls. One of the most stunning and amazing albums i have ever heard......ever.... Every single track is worthy of a grammy nomination. It's just that good. In fact the only thing i can think of that might deter any one from absolutely loving this cd, is that the rest of your music collection just may not get listened to again. It's just that good. There are not enough superlatives to adequately do Mike Younger and his band justice, so get your hands on a copy and be prepared to get blown away. It's just that good.
