Shanice, formerly Shanice Wilson, is a Grammy nominated artist with #1 singles and gold albums to her credit. Boasting a five octave voice, it's good to know she's back on the music scene after a five year hiatus. She brings a more adult flavor to this new set of sexy songs. Every Woman Dreams, is a solid blend that ranges from funky, uptempo grooves that feed the sexual palate, to beautiful full bodied ballads. Play Time Records. 2006.

Shanice seldomly records as evident in the huge gap between her album releases.
Shanice is known most notably for her #2 Pop hit, I Love Your Smile.
While Shanice has had other hits throughout the years, she's remained under the radar.
Her stint as a background singer eventually landed her a deal with LaFace Records.
Shanice released one album under LaFace which was moderately successful. It
produced her last biggest hit to date, When I Close My Eyes.
Seven years later(yes it's been that long), Shanice blesses us once again with her magnificent five-octave range.
Shanice has really kept her voice in great shape over the years. She hasn't missed a beat.
She sings with such confidence on this record. She sings candidly about her marriage to TV star Flex Alexander.
The production is top-notch. The vocals are crisp and soaring. The writing is excellent. This is truly a great album!
A must buy! *****

After a seven year hiatus, this songstress returns for a comeback that many probably wished would have happened sooner. Breaking on the seen in the mid-to-late 1980s, Shanice was the young singer that we all knew and loved. After mega hits like "Silent Prayer" and "I Love Your Smile," the marketing geniuses couldn't capture enough buzz for her later albums. Fast forward to today, and Shanice has yet another opportunity to fight for the attention of the masses. And with Every Woman Dreams, she definitely has the musical artillery to back it all up.

Although the album starts with the lackluster "Get Up," it rolls right into the dynamic first single "Every Woman Dreams." It showcases all of her talent and reminds everybody that she is a grown woman doing grown things nowadays. "Things In The Movies" is enjoyable ballad that uses Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes' "I Miss You." She gives some good advice with "Keep It To Yourself" and sets the mood with "Take Care of U." "So Sexy" is an unnecessary fast cut, but it's obvious she wants to keep herself from being pigeon-holed as just one thing. "That's Why I Love U" brings it back to the slow jams, infusing a slight touch of old-school percussion in the background. "Crazy 4 U" is a light and sentimental ballad with a lot of crossover appeal. "So Free" expresses the feeling of being autonomous, "Chocolate" compares a man to her favorite candy, and "Lovin' You" is a cover of the classic jam by Minnie Riperton.

The tender "Forever Like A Rose," the thought-provoking "Can't Imagine," and the ode to her husband on "Joy" close out this phenomenally impressive album. It's almost scary that Shanice was able to put together such an amazing album after 19 years in the business. You truly won't regret adding Every Woman Dreams to your music collection. It would be a shame for this independent release to go unnoticed by the R&B market. So help get the word out because that's the only way we will see this illustrious singer get her just due.

With a few exceptions, the majority of reviews on Amazon confirm Shanice does come into her own as a serious R/B vocalist on this release. She delivers a timeless product more on the musical level of Mary J. Blidge, Corrinne Bailey Rae and less crammed with Janet undertones. Every Woman Dreams is a sheer melodic delight. The track compilation is strong and very radio friendly yet the producers uphold a level of musical quality that is sophisticated and very sensual. The one faux pas is the ill advise attempt to tackle the notorious 70s track Loving You from Minnie Ripperton. Unfortunately, Shanice's version fails to erase the original from memory. Otherwise this CD is flawless. The audience will surely welcome the opportunity to finally audition a young vocalist bringing something interesting to the forefront of an industry in trouble. Personal favorite tracks are Forever Like A Rose, Every Woman Dreams, I Can Dream, Crazy For U ( a track that sounds very India Arie).
