"A definitive guide...no home medical library should be without it...EVERY WOMAN'S BODY is a book of extraordinary depth and information that is beautifully easy to read."
KARLA MORALES
VICE PRESIDENT, PEOPLE'S MEDICAL SOCIETY
A thorough, comprehensive, and completely and informative alphabetical listing of medical conditions, what to expect, and what to do for them--from abortion, AIDS, Alzheimer's Disease, and Anemia to Uterine Fibroids, Uterine Prolapse, Vaginal Infections, and Varicose Veins, and everything in between.

Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

Korte, a medical journalist, takes a clear-eyed look at the issues and conditions that affect a woman's health throughout her life, emphasizing the importance of positive choices. She shows how to make good use of available medical care, from choosing a practitioner to seeking alternative treatments and second opinions. Readers won't be overwhelmed here by statistics or her discussion of the medical insurance maze. Because a good portion of the book is presented in an encyclopedic format--close to 100 entries on such topics as abortion, birth control options, breast cancer, incontinence, childbirth, rape and the consquences of diethylstilbestrol (DES) exposure--it also makes for agreeable browsing. Especially important is the balanced information Korte supplies to help women make their own decisions, including questions to ask one's health care provider. Diagrams are helpful, as is an extensive directory listing close to 400 organizations that offer information or referrals. First serial to New Woman .

From Library Journal

With the current spotlight on women's health, publishers are responding to the demand for information. This book by health journalist Korte provides good general background on health maintenance, choosing a healthcare provider, and making informed decisions about treatment. It also offers very basic information about female anatomy and physiology and brief coverage of specific conditions and surgical procedures. Korte explains the conditions and treatment options so that women can choose what is best for them. Quotations from women provide personal commentaries about the conditions and procedures, while an extensive resource guide and bibliography offer access to further information. The New Our Bodies Ourselves (LJ 2/1/93) provides coverage of women's health in greater depth with better illustrations, making it the best source for reference collections, but Every Woman's Body is an excellent addition to circulating consumer health collections.

This review is from: Every Woman's Body (Paperback)
Besides the abundance of spelling and grammatical errors that make this book look like it was written by a 5 year old, it is filled with false facts and outdated science. It would be laughable if it wasn't so pathetic and potentially damaging to women who might read this as truth. Save your money and skip this book...trust me!
