5.0 out of 5 stars What does God have to say?
I have no idea what's up with the other reviewers. I agree that some of the other books in the Every Man's series are a bit over done, slightly jaded, and too explicit in some cases. I thought Arterburn's book, "Every Man's Struggle" was a single book. I didn't know that it would give way to a whole raft of books, workbooks, CD's, tapes, sub-books, on and on. But I guess I'm not surprised that it happened, it makes the bucks and that's what it is all about for this author.

So, you are born and in time you realize you have certain...

This review is from: Every Young Man's Battle Guide: Weapons for the War Against Sexual Temptation (Every Man Series) (Paperback)
I have no idea what's up with the other reviewers. I agree that some of the other books in the Every Man's series are a bit over done, slightly jaded, and too explicit in some cases. HOWEVER, this is not the case with this book. Please go read the table of contents found above under the "search inside" link. The ENTIRE book covers those topics by providing PURE SCRIPTURE again and again and again. Besides the very few excerpts from Every Young Man's battle, the entire book is quite simply a collection of what God says on the subject. And THAT is more encouraging then any authors words could ever be. So instead of searching the Bible yourself, it's all summed up here. And then when you do your regular Bible reading, if you happen to come across one of the many verses in the book (which you will) a smile will come across your face as your knowledge of scripture gets deeper and deeper. This is espsecially useful for those who are just getting into the Bible (or want to get into the Bible).

If you're looking for a book that is more a book rather then a collection of awe inspiring scripture, Joshua Harris's book on sexual sin is great and non-explicit. Something more explicit but with some very valuable messages, specifically regarding the spiritual front of the battle, I reccomend Tactics by Fred Stoeker. Just be catious of it's explicity, and pay attention to reviews on all other books in the Every Man's series regarding sexual sin. I do agree that some ARE far too explicit. But as this battle guide is God talking to you, not the authors, get it!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Valuable rewrite of an important message: Also, Saphire never gives a rating better than 1 star, January 13, 2006
By
This review is from: Every Young Man's Battle Guide: Weapons for the War Against Sexual Temptation (Every Man Series) (Paperback)
While there is nothing particularly new in this version of Arterburn's message, it does provide practical and tactical ways for young men to avoid the plague of pornography and objectification of women. In this world awash with sexual images, young men need tools to remain pure and holy as they mature toward righteous manhood.

By the way, Saphire has never gives a rating above 1 star as of 1/13/2006. He/she appears to be a non-Christian and angry towards God and men. Take care in accepting that opinion.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book is incredible, April 2, 2006
This review is from: Every Young Man's Battle Guide: Weapons for the War Against Sexual Temptation (Every Man Series) (Paperback)
for starters, i am 18 and still in high school. i have just as many sexual struggles as any other young man and this book is the best thing thats ever happened to me. its provided many hopeful messages about honoring God and women and ive found it to be more encouraging than the Bible (at least in the area of sexual temptation) it not only gives facts and statistics, but what women think and also real-life storries that have much more impact than the Bibles harsh preaching. it was an incredible book and i will continue reading it and encouraging others

5.0 out of 5 stars Every man should read this...., December 18, 2011

I purchased the Cd's because I wanted my boyfriend and I to listen to these as quickly as possible. And its easy to listen to while driving. This book is very informative about how men are wired sexually. I am a 35 Year old woman and I was shocked that I still didn't know this information about men. It explains how men can control themselves from lust and fantasys if they want to try. I think men of all ages should read this book and even when guys hit puberty. This would be good for them to understand themselves and how to stop lust.

So, you are born and in time you realize you have certain feelings, God-given, human desires. But WAIT! Arterburn and Co. have a message for you because they have a pipeline direct to the Almighty. What gives them the authority to decide what is between one person and God? That is the most sacred relationship! Arterburn's message is, 'Don't think for yourself, listen to we, 'the chosen!' We KNOW what's right!' And with banners flying, and drums beating they march backwards through time proudly proclaiming: 'The earth was created in six days, Eve literally ate a bad apple, a snake talked to her, God made the sun stand still so a war could be fought' and on and on (Cue a southern preacher with a loud voice and a bad combover: GLOWRY HALLELUJAH!!) These "defenders of the faith" perpetrate their fundamentalism because people don't want to think. They want someone to lead them, pat their head, and tell them they are a good boy/girl.

Before you buy this book, consider a fact: Jim Bakker, Jimmy Swaggart, Ted Haggard, Rush Limbaugh, Laura Schlessinger, and others were the ones who yelled so loudly about immorality, were so self-righteous, judgemental, stern, and dogmatic. And yet? Yeah, you get the idea.

The irony isn't only inescapable, it's tragic because it is done in the name of God.

1.0 out of 5 stars The cover says it all., April 12, 2005
This review is from: Every Young Man's Battle Guide: Weapons for the War Against Sexual Temptation (Every Man Series) (Paperback)
For one thing the book makes women or young women out to be
nothing more than something which is looked at.What about young men facing a sense of vunerability?Nope, not here.
As I said the cover says it all.I have read the whole series
of books and find the same message 'women are objects' men are
objectifiers'so how can it help teens with real life issues?
I think not.
