Praise for Every Young Man’s Battle
“Every Young Man’s Battle does the best job I have ever seen on the subject
of sexual temptation. Once upon a time we lived in a world that didn’t talk
about secrets, and that world has brought us to the mess we are in today.
Young men must have an honest, blunt, and unashamedly Christian look
at their sexuality. This book will save thousands of future marriages.”
—Jim Burns, president, YouthBuilders
“I have never read a book as direct and open as Every Young Man’s Battle.
The profound principles communicate the authors’ personal experiences
and provide the hope that anyone can overcome a day-to-day battle with
impure thoughts. Every Young Man’s Battle helps you see the importance of
taking control over your eyes, your mind, and your heart so that you can
completely honor God in every facet of your life.”
—Scott Bullard, of musical recording group Soul Focus
“It’s encouraging to see some real men stand up and sound the alarm to
young men. Stephen, Fred, and Mike’s courage to tell their stories exposes
what has unfortunately become a dirty little secret among men in the
church. The battle cry of the day is for men of all ages to live a pure and
holy life, and this book will crush Satan’s strategy by giving the troops the
guts to talk about what has been taboo in the church for so long. The
authors’ poignant stories paint a picture of battle in which all men can
relate and offer hope and camaraderie to win the war.”
—Troy Vanliere, artist/manager (representing NewSong,
Carolyn Arends, Soul Focus, Jadyn Strand, and Glad)
“There has been a gaping void in the search for holiness, and Every Young
Man’s Battle addresses those issues where others have been comfortably
silent. If there is even a spark of desire for purity in your life, this book will
kindle that fire… It is possible to walk in victory, as you will surely find out
after reading the Every Man series.”
—Matt Butler, of musical recording group NewSong
From the Inside Flap
Steve Arterburn and Fred Stoeker, the authors of the hard-hitting best-seller Every Man?s Battle, now focus on the temptations young single Christian men like you face every day?and they offer workable, biblical strategies for achieving sexual purity.
The authors examine the standard of Ephesians 5:3??there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality??in a positive and sensitive light. And they explain how an authentic, vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ is the key to victory over temptation. Every Young Man?s Battle will show you how to train your eyes and your mind, how to clean up your thought life, and how to develop a realistic battle plan for remaining pure in today?s sexually soaked culture. As a result, you?ll experience hope?real hope?for living a strong, pure life God?s way --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

A healthy alternative that contains an even stronger biblical basis, that avoids the graphic descriptions, and that is much shorter (making it much more likely for teens to read it) is Joshua Harris' "Not Even A Hint: Guarding Your Heart Against Lust." This book is based on the truth of Ephesians 5:3. It has also been re-released as "Sex is Not the Problem, Lust Is." I have led several teenage guys in studies of it and all have found it very beneficial in honoring the Lord in the area of their sexuality.
While some of the principles presented are true and wise in regard to pornography, lust, and addiction, such as their progressive, habitual, and destructive natures, these statements become lost in an overwhelming tirade that forms the majority of the book. A vast amount of the content is contradictory, dehumanizing of both men and women, hyperbolic, and ultimately damning of any form of sexuality.
Where to begin?
This book is contradictory in both the ultimate point the authors make (save yourself for marriage) and how to get there (shield yourself from lust). They repeatedly emphasize that lust often begins as something small that progresses - which is true - then go on to give graphic accounts of such instances in an almost titillating fashion. Most of these are detailed retellings of sexual experiences or encounters by either the authors or guest writers, from start to finish. They are trying to emphasize their points by being blunt, but there is a difference between bluntness and explicitness that they clearly missed.Read more ›
The book finally gives straight talk on the issues of masturbation, soft porn, the wandering eyes, and the issues of lust in our culture. In a world where sexual images and humor crowd our airwaves from radio to television this is a needed tool to stay the battle.
This is not just a book on staying pure, but one that gives real resons for trying to do so. Testimonies of men who have struggled, fallen, and then regained their purity are given throughout this book.
I would encourage every man to read this book, and encourage you to buy extras to share with others who may also be struggling to remain pure.

I found this difficult, but not impossible, to masterbate to. Next edition should include pictures.Published 17 days ago by Andrew Belet
It would have been nice for the author to do more research on the matter. There are many other books and resources out there by pastors and theologians that bring much more insight... Read morePublished 23 days ago by Jennifer

It was pretty good. There were a few errors and opinions not supported by scripture, but they dealt with the main topic very well.Published 2 months ago by Linda Ferris
