Powerful tool for today's young women,
By
This review is from: Every Young Woman's Battle: Guarding Your Mind, Heart, and Body in a Sex-Saturated World (The Every Man Series) (Paperback)
I don't understand some of the reviews this book has recieved. I am now a college student, but I got this book in high school, and it finally answered many questions that other Christian books on the subject had been very fuzzy on, and restored my hope to live a life of sexual integrity. The book is heavily backed by scripture, futher strengthening it's message. Yes, this book is frank. However, it makes the point that ignorance makes one vulnerable. I can also almost guarantee that most young women today will not be shocked by the content. Even though I come from a small, conservative town, I heard about sex every day in high school, and don't think it's not talked about even in middle school. There's no escaping it in today's world, and it's better for young women to learn about it from this book, or others like it, and learning what God's word says on the subject, than hearing about about sex in the locker room, and having their curiosity aroused without being told what is right and wrong according to God. Sex and related subjects are not talked about enough in the Christian community, and as a result, many young people are being led astray, simply because no one took the initiative to talk to them about sex. Just because you're too embarrased to talk about sex doesn't mean everyone else is. Who would you rather your daughter hear about it from: you, either through conversation, this book, or both, or from someone at school?
I want to restate that this book is a very powerful tool for godly young women, whether they've already become sexually active, or have only heard rumors of it. I plan on reading this book with my daughter in the future, with the hope of sparing her the pain I have suffered. I encourage parents and other concerned adults to read this book and share it with the young women in their lives. And if you are a young woman looking for answers, I encourage you to read this book. It may be the first step in the right direction. One other point I would like to address is that this book does not make sex out to be dirty in any way. It shows that sex is a wonderful thing when it is as God intended: between a husband and wife.

I like this book very much. Although it was targeted to teenagers, I still picked up the book even if I am a decade older. The main selling point of this book is the author talked about sexuality to teens. Guild the girls through what to do when guys approached to them with sexual requests. Each chapter has a few case studies, and are detailly written with bible verses to support. I usually can easily finished a book in one sitting, but this one I couldn't. After each chapter, I need to put down the book and think what I had done with my past. I finally understood my problem as my memory flashed back. This book made my day every time I read the new chapter. There was so much in the book you will need time to digest. I am single at the moment, and honestly I am desperate for love (marriage). I didn't simply find this book just talking about sexuality, but the way to see your life as a single as well. Great quotes and messages in the book. You will be a new woman after reading it. Recommended not only for teens, but singles.

I am a teenage girl, and I purchased this book for myself because I am struggling with some sexual issues and I needed a little bit of guidance of how to live a more pure life in God's eyes.
This book was a really great help to me. when I read it, I knew that I wasn't alone, and that it is possible to stop doing the thing that I was stuck in. Before i read this I thought that I was the only Christian who ever struggled with some of these sexual issues, and the book helped me to begin to accept myself because God accepts me even when I fall. This book was amazing because it redirected my attention to Jesus as the lover of my soul. This book covers issues such as self image, masturbation, modesty, media, sexual promiscueity, oral sex etc. It also talks about the mental, emotional and physical battle so that now I know how to redirect my thoughts and emotions before I let myself fall into sexual sin. I was however dissapointed that it doesn't cover a little more about pornography, because pornography is not just a guy thing! but some girls struggle with it as well. I think this book is amazing, as it certainly helped me, and I would recomend it to other teenage girls, especially those who are struggling.

As a 17-year-old teenage girl, I found that this book was exactly what I needed. Sex has become almost casual among my peers, and I had been struggling to "swim against the tide," so to speak. I had even begun to doubt my morals and beliefs as a Christian. When I was given this book as a graduation gift, I was initially skeptical. I expected that this book would be too much from an adult's perspective; I expected that I wouldn't be able to relate. Was I surprised!
I could certainly relate to "Every Young Woman's Battle." It addressed nearly every doubt I'd been having as of late, and it provided meaningful assistance for me to get out of some of Satan's snares. I am so thankful that Shannon Ethridge wrote this book. If I had not read it and gained the valuable insight that I have, I'm not sure that I could stand against the pressure to "fit in" in college this fall. I would highly recommend this book to anyone; it is wonderful!

Hey!
When I read this book, I couldn't beleive how great it was! I picked it up thinking "Mum bought me a book... Great." But I was so wrong! Shannon Ethridge's book: "Every Young Woman's Battle" is a great book for Girls aged 11 to adult. It describes how to be a great sexually pure woman, and gives you tips on how to be this. It makes young women feel confident about their future and ready to start living their destiny to their full potential. Way to go Shannon!

If I knew about this book when I was younger, I would not have been in some situations that I regret. This book is information, educational, and anointed. It will bless you, enlighten you, inform you, and give you wisdom on how you can make the right choices in life.

This review is from: Every Young Woman's Battle: Guarding Your Mind, Heart, and Body in a Sex-Saturated World (The Every Man Series) (Paperback)
I found Ethridge's book to be a great read. It addresses not just sex, but various issues from courting to masterbation, which I was really suprised to find. The best part of the book is that it gives you the knowledge that there are answers when it comes to questions about what God thinks about sex and sexuality. Ethridge provides a lot of scripture referances and first hand accounts which I found helpful. The problems I have with Every Young Woman's Battle are that the book focuses strongly on the "why-nots", but some what lacks in the "how-to" department. Also, the audience the book is written to is girls who have not compromised their sexuality, so I don't think it is very helpful for people who have already had sex and are struggling with those issues. But, overall, I think it is a book worth reading.

I read this book and I thought It was a good read. was actually kind of glad that it was so bold because a lot of people sugar coat words when we here them everyday in movies...etc. It was real and it addressed a lot of issues. it helps to only a certain extent though.
I like the fact that it highlighted on the fact that sexual integrity is a four componenet collective. It deals with the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual aspects as a whole to be completley pure. It showed that It was not just sexual abstinence but self control, thought control, and God's expectations. I couldn't totally relate to the book only because the guys that I go out with are truely living their lives as disciples of christ and have God on their mind. My mentality is that if this guy at school, or work..etc can't lead me spiritually and help me get to heaven, then he is not someone I will date. which rules out every guy except the ones at church. we double date and do things that glorify god and in the book she kind of pinned every guy as a sex addict or something and there are no christian guys trying to be sexually pure. I know different and that is why I gave it three stars.

Really Good,
This review is from: Every Young Woman's Battle: Guarding Your Mind, Heart, and Body in a Sex-Saturated World (The Every Man Series) (Paperback)
This book is really good for explaing all the areas of purity - emotional, mental, physical and spiritual. It focuses on making God first, has realistic advice and applies to people over the entire spectrum of the purity issue. It also gives some insight to what guys are thinking. I highly recommend reading this along with it's male counterpart: Every Young Many's Battle. I especially like the questions she provides for us to kind of check ourselves.
The only down side is that the end gets a little slow. There are also some things I would probably do a little differently. For example, she suggests not comparing yourself to the models in magazines if that is a struggle for you. I recommend not looking at magazines with perfect bodies scattered throughout altogether, but that's really a personal prefrence. I highly recommend this book and I look forward to using it in small groups!

So far, so good,

I'm 26 years old and for the past 5 years, I have compromised myself for the sake of being in a relationship. I have decided that I do not want to do this anymore and recently began searching for reading material to help me (along with my Bible of course). Yesterday, when I saw this book, I felt compelled to buy it. I'm on page 43...and so far, so good. I must admit that it's made me blush a few times because the writings are so frank, but I appreciate Mrs. Ethridge's honesty especially since my parents we unable to counsel me in this manner. I would recommend that parents read it along with their children so that they can answer the many questions that will be asked...and of course, the many times that blushing will happen. Happy reading :o)
