5.0 out of 5 stars Empowering! April 13, 2011
Format:Paperback
The EveryGirl's Guide to Life by Maria Menounos is an empowering book for women to read. It has great photographs and a lovely layout as well. Menounos has a nice, conversational voice and the book is a real pleasure to read.

The key to happiness, she learned from her friend, Randal Malone, is being organized. Your stuff, that is. So, she tells us how to organize, declutter and how to create a terrific closet that holds our things. Now, she advises, you can spend upwards to $15,000 on getting a closet designed for you...or you can learn how to do simple carpentry work and do it yourself. This is a perfect example of how Menounos's book is empowering...she encourages the reader to learn how to do home projects and not to rely on other (men, parents, etc). Excellent advice!

She is adamant about organizing...and, as an interior designer, I couldn't agree more. Have clutter, you will be disorganized, have less time, even be possibly depressed. Buy only stuff you need/love--avoid purchasing anything but.

The book discusses weight loss and how she managed to lose--and keep off-40 pounds. She also discusses managing time (easier when organized) and how to be successful in business. There is a section on style...and on emotional health. There are even some good looking recipes!

Because I refer to it often with my clients, I recommend HARMONIOUS ENVIRONMENT: BEAUTIFY, DETOXIFY & ENERGIZE YOUR LIFE, YOUR HOME & YOUR PLANET, as a companion to this book, as it goes into different aspects of organizing and making your home beautiful--which impacts the quality of your life.

Well done and highly recommend!

5.0 out of 5 stars Extremely well done guide to personal success April 23, 2011
By Steve

When I first heard that Maria was writing this book, I was very curious. I've seen her for years on various news (and entertainment news) programs and have admired her seemingly strong work ethic and drive. I wanted to see how well she would be able to translate that into a book that everyone would be able to relate to. The end result is remarkable.

Since I'm a guy and can't comment on the nearly 70 pages of makeup and fashion, my review and rating are strictly on the 230 pages of everything else. And I mean EVERYTHING else. Maria tackles such topics as organization, health, exercise, relationships, do-it-yourself home improvement, business, and travel. The book had an immediate effect on me. I started reading it right around the time I was getting ready to put together my tax records for last year. Unfortunately, I couldn't locate all of the records I needed. The first chapter in the book is about organization and I realized that if I had Maria's organization I could have saved myself a lot of unnecessary stress. What she was writing about made sense and will help me as I try to organize my spare room where I currently just "store" (ie haphazardly throw) paperwork, boxes, clothing, etc. My favorite chapter, however, was the one on Friends & Family. As someone who had to cut ties with various "friends" recently and have seen a few others drift in and out of my life, I could really relate to a lot of what she was talking about.

The key to getting the most out of this book is to keep an open mind. You might not agree with everything she writes about but I felt that even when I didn't completely agree it made me examine how I approach something and if there are any ways that I can make it better. That is the end goal, to continually improve yourself and your foundation.

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm 54 years old and got alot out of this book! April 16, 2011
Format:Paperback
This book isn't just for those in their 20's and 30's. I'm 54 years old and Maria has tips and advice that apply
to everyone of any age. Maria is a smart young woman. Her book is packed with information, everything from finances, health, beauty, success, self-confidence, business, aging, etc...Something for everyone. A great gift for young people but also a great gift for those starting over with their lives or anyone who wants to improve themselves. The best common sense book for 2011 and beyond!

3.0 out of 5 stars Good book, but not for "everygirl" November 16, 2011
Format:Paperback
I really love the book. The book is WORTH buying. Beautiful, glossy photos. Details. Lots of great ideas. Any woman who wants to live fabulously, but keep her sanity should have this book.

The problem is that her advice seems to imply you have the money to spend. This is not a book for women who are just starting out. However, it does give you some aspiration and some ideas to "act as if" you are at Maria Menounos's status. An example is how she talks about taking care of different places in your home. Hmm, a girl just starting out probably has just an apartment. She then pushes it further to detail what to do with your GAME ROOM. Yah, definitely don't have one of those.

If you want a SERIOUS book to help you get started in life, this is not the book, but it is a nice buy. If you believe in visualization or looking at things you aspire to have, I recommend this book. The advice in it is still useful, as well if you ignore things that require money in the first place.

4.0 out of 5 stars An EveryGuys review of a book for EveryGirls April 13, 2011
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
As a huge fan of Maria I bought this book to show my support for someone whom I admire greatly. I wasn't sure what to expect as I knew I wasn't her target demographic being an EveryGuy and all. Color me pleasantly surprised. Sure there are some topics such as makeup and hair tips that are just foreign to me but this book is so much more than that. It has advice on relationships and family, as well as great organizational, travel, weight loss and just overall living a healthy life style tips that I believe can be applied by anyone. Sprinkle in a little biography, a little humor and some beautiful photos I think you'll find it a great read. I know I did.
