Unknown Talent,
By A Customer
This review is from: Everybody Doesn't (Audio CD)
It's a shame this album hasn't recieved better publicity, because Amanda is a talent everyone should hear. Her husky voice adds much sex appeal to her style of music that boarders on edgey, funky pop.EVERYBODY DOESN'T - The only single release. Pop with an R&B edge that has a very sing along feel and plenty of sexual energy. CAN'T STOP MY LOVE - Here she sounds a little like an early Michael Jackson, with this very much pop orienated song. YOU DON'T STAND A CHANCE - Featured on the Rugrats in Paris soundtrack, is this slightly calypso feel tune, that is very much something to groove with on a warm summers day. Hot Hot Hot! NOT THE ONE (FOR ME) - Moving into Britney territory with this standard funky pop song. IF I OPEN UP MY HEART TO YOU - The album's only real ballad is sugary and predictible, and perhaps her voice is a little weak for songs of this sort, but none the less it still is nice to listen to. CALL ME - Very upbeat pop song, which is where Amanda feels the most comfortable. Not breaking any new ground, but it'll make you shake your body. THE WAY I AM - One of the more mature sounding songs on the album. Catchy chorus makes this latin-style track one of the album's standouts. NO PRESSURE - Very short song that is very much dominated by the chorus. Very catchy though, and a little more urban than some of the other tunes. START IT ALL OVER - Easy going mid-tempo pop song. The lyrics could very much fall into ballad territory, but the guitar strumming and hook make this so much more. Resembles the Backstreet Boys tune "Shape Of My Heart". CRUSH ON YOU - Another album standout, where Amanda's husky tone are put to good use. Crossing dancefloor beats, pop hooks, a little techno and R&B, make this hot! THAT'S RIGHT - Very enjoyable, uplifting pop tune, has a Mandy Moore feel to it. Overall a solid pop album, with plenty of edge and attitude. It's just a shame she may be looked over.

When I first heard her debut single "Everybody Doesn't" I knew her album was something I could dance to. Here's what I think about the songs on her album:1. Everybody Doesn't - Her debut single. A great dance song! One of my favorites. Great lyrics and good vocals. 6/5 2. Can't Stop My Love - A pretty good song. Another dancable song. Good vocals and a good beat. 4/5 3. You Don't Stand A Chance - A good song. Good beat. Kinda catchy. 4.5/5 4. Not the One (For Me) - A great song for breaking up with a guy who plays games with your heart. Awesome lyrics "I ain't gonna make the same mistake twice, that's why I'm leaving tonight" ! Very good beat. Good for getting down on tha dance floor! 5/5 5. If I Open Up My Heart To You - A good ballad. Her only ballad on the album! It's still good though. Great for asking a crush out or something like that. 4.9/5 6. Call Me - This song is alright. Not her best on the album. Dancable though. 3.5/5 7. The Way I Am - My favorite song on the album! It has an awesome beat, good vocals, and great lyrics. "I don't wanna be like you, I'm not afraid of standing out, don't belong in a crowd." Good for all the girls out there who aren't showoffs but their friends think they are. 10/5 8. No Pressure - My 2nd fave on the album! It has a good message behind it. Great vocals and a goooooood beat! "Don't push, don't rush, don't sacrifice our love, don't move too soon". 6.5/5 9. Start It All Over - A good song for a girl trying to apologize to her boyfriend for hurting him. Good beat. Good vocals. Good lyrics. 4.5/5 10. Crush On You - A great song for crushes. Good beat. Something you can definitely bounce to. Good vocals and good lyrics. 5/5 11. That's Right - Spicy lyrics and great vocals! "All we need is to get a little closer, you won't regret a thing, it's about time to get it on, tonight" 6/5 Well that's my review. Her album has lyrics so you can sing to it! Don't you just love it when they do that? Buy this album. I totally recommend it!

Weird...,
This review is from: Everybody Doesn't (Audio CD)
I have only heard one song from this album "Can't Stop My Love" and I think it is the perfect pop song. I admit she is a total Britney clone. When I downloaded this song, I was really trying to DL Britney's CD "Britney". But you know how DLing goes, sometimes songs are mislabeled. I could not tell the difference between this chick and Britney, musically. In fact, I thought it was some obscure Britney song for the longest time. I just learned that it was not Britney, but Amanda. I know this isnt really helpful, but I just could not believe how much this girl sounds like Britney. You can't tell them apart.

I don't like pre-teen love songs sooo...I'll say that there were about 3 good songs on here. I liked her video for the first single. All dressed for the winter...
Brooke Allison has young love songs, but she has a style that stands out, reminds me of Mandy Moore and I really liked her more mature songs. That is my reccommendation. That and, this is a hell of a lot better than no-talent-chunky-duff and lip-synch-ashlee. She should try another CD.

How an artist like Amanda can release an album this strong, then disappear is beyond me. What's more insulting is how this album sits in the Amazon Marketplace for under a dollar. This is a strong pop/R&B album from start to finish. I suppose there can only be one Britney Spears, but that does not mean there aren't other artists that aren't writing material just as good, and even better. Just sample track 8 right now ("no pressure")... it has the emphatic Britney-esque stabs. Fans of all the female acts others mentioned in reviews will like Amanda, and even if you like Backstreet Boys or N'SYNC you should also enjoy this album. It's not about the fame, the proof is in the music.

Well.. actually I loved the song Everybody Doesnt. Its a great song~ The best on the album by far! But the other songs are.. not that great. She sounds manufactured and her voice is nothing more special than most young teenage female artists out there. In fact I don't think she has that much talent. When I heard Everybody Doesn't I though this girl could be the next thing! After buying the cd I realized different though. I think that single came out about a year ago and she hasn't had any more singles since then. Its not that big of a surprise. She does sound like she has talent in Everybody Doesnt. Maybe if she had some more songs like that she would've been more of a hit. Something about her voice can be a little annoying at times too. Shes not at all horrible but maybe with some practice and new songs she could get back in the music business~ But this album won't have any more hits.. That seems the only sure thing for Amanda right now!

To The Contrary,Everybody Does--This Kind Of Music,

Like so many record companies these days, Madonna's Maverick imprint has decided to enter the teen pop fray, and thus we have the debut album from Amanda. As with so many albums of this type, she has the requisite Swedish production team, represented here by the guys who did the bulk of 98 Degrees' last album. It's too bad they couldn't find material more on par with the best tracks from that album. Instead, she's drowned in omnipresent stutter step beats prevalent in much of Top 40 radio these days. While there are a couple of good tracks here, notably the title tune and the nice ballad 'If I Open My Heart Up To You', she's ultimately brought down by unoriginal production, as well as lacking a strong single in the vein of '..Baby One More Time' or 'Genie In A Bottle'. The fact that alot of the uptempo material has a general sameness makes this a quick trip to the land of mediocrity. Again, there are some good songs here, and her voice is okay, but unless she can come up with more distinctive material, she's going to be left off the bandwagon.
