Sadly departed, 5 great singers and a great cd, April 4, 2005
This review is from: Everybody (Audio CD)
Okay so I didn't find out about this group till like 2 years after thy broke up, and I went through hell to find the cd's. But I must say it was all worth the wait and time because although some of the songs can be a bit "Typical Pop", there is nothing wrong with that. Not everyone can be original. Sometimes it just takes some good singers to bring to life some songs written by great songwriters. After all, some people are good at making music while others are great at singing it.
Here's my personal review of each song...
1. Everybody - 10/10 - This song was one of the first I heard from the group. This song is STILL playing in my head very often. I love the video too, they all look like they had so much fun filming it.
2. Pure and Simple (New version) - 7/10 - Okay so this version was a little more beaty than the original from the first album, but it doesn't compare to the original. It's still a good revamp for some added freshness.
3. Suddenly - 5/10 - This was a bad song choic for the group. It didn't shocase anything for them and doesn't play well at all.
4. We go on - 9/10 - Okay i know this one sounds a lot like "Suddenly", but it was arranged far better. I like this song.
5. Back down to zero - 1/10 - Total Filler track, simply there to make the cd longer. Has nothing special about it at all.
6. Play to win - 6/10 - Enrique anyone? It's a token Latin-based track, but still delivers on a vocal and melodic level, and I can enjoy it.
7. Angel in my heart - 10/10 - Jump5 sang this song also, and I heard Jump5's version first, so I immediately recognized the originality of Hearsay's version. Jump5 took on a pop/melodic/hip hop style while Hear'say took on a very beautiful melodic semi-latin sound. This is a beautiful song.
8. You're all I need to get by - 10/10 - A classic on it's own, they make a superb revamp of an oldie. They sounded perfect for this song.
9. Not the end of the world - 9/10 - It's a bit predictable but it's a very good song and I have given it many listens and I still like it.
10. Don't go believing - 2/10 - I so don't think so. This song is also nothing but a filler track. It held nothing special in it.
11. Home again - 10/10 - One of my favorite tracks. This is a pretty song and has good flow to it. The Pre and Chorus are the shining moments of the song...
12. A good thing - 1/10 - I can't put my finger on it, but this song is fairly reminiscent of another song that does exist, and that song is horrible too...
13. Straight from the heart - 10/10 - A lovely song that should bring tears to anyone's eyes.
Overall I would say this album is really good, and sorely underappreciated. These kids had talent, and unfortunately talent tends to be overlooked these days.
12.
