Simply The Best,
By Matthew (Chico, California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Everybody Makes Mistakes (Audio CD)
I am a Starflyer 59 fan, and have been ever since I picked up the Silver cd on a whim. I listened in awe, and went on to so far obtain Americana and the Fell In Love At 22 ep, along with this album. I'm soon to get Gold and The Fashion Focus. Out of the four cd's I have, this one would rank at the top. I love everything Jason Martin does, but this definitely makes my jaw drop to my knees. Perfectly blending modern noise, fifties balads, surf music, and serious musical talent, this is the kind of cd you can listen to 100 times in a row and hear something new every time, then you can listen to it another 100 times because you love it so much. Get it now 10/10.

Amazing,
By Theo B. (The World, Universe) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Everybody Makes Mistakes (Audio CD)
This is my first Starflyer 59 CD, and I was amazed by the creativity displayed by Jason Martin and Starflyer. On the first song, "Play the C Chord", I liked the way the mood of the song just changed in the verse to chorus transition. The next track, "No New Kinda Story", was also one of my favorites, with its simple but somewhat driving beat. The techno-like keyboard textures in the background were cool, too. "20 Dollar Bills" had a unique blend of harp and fuzzy distorted guitar. "No More Shows", my second favorite song, reminded me of the Beatles with distortion. "Just Try" and "My Name" were more mellow, cool songs that were enjoyable, despite their mellowness. "Dethroned King" was my favorite song, with its sad, loud riff. "Going Places" is a dreamy song that I always kind of miss because of the mesmerized state the previous track always leaves me in. The last song, "The Party", is a slow moving, dreamy song that kind of leaves you feeling half asleep, half awake. The hidden track is a jazzy, saxophone led song. Also, don't forget to listen for the slide guitar that accents many of the songs. Get this album, whether you're a Starflyer 59 fan or not. Prepare yourself to be mesmerized.

One of the best!,
This review is from: Everybody Makes Mistakes (Audio CD)
This is one of my favorite SF59 albums. Americana is probably my favorite, but this is a close second. SF59 fans all know exactly their favorite song frome each SF59 album and this gives fans some good ones to choose from. The best is probably Play the C Chord and No New Kind of Story. Those two songs alone make it worth it.
