Editorial Reviews

Tears for Fears Dominated the Pop Charts of the '80s, in 1985 They Released the Album "Songs from the Big Chair" which Contained the Hit Single's "Shout" and "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" Both Single's were Top Ten Hits in Australia and Became Anthems for a Generation. Recently a Piano Rehash of their Hit Single "Mad World" for the Film Donnie Darko Made their Legacy Apparent to a Post-millennium Audience and Re-ignited Interest in their Band. Various Bootleg Dance Remixes have Surfaced in Club Land and Now a Legal Remix of Quite Possibly Tears for Fears Biggest Hit is Here to Take on the Charts all Over Again. The Single also Includes an Electro House Remix by Open Air as Well as a Funky Summer House "Hed Kandy" Style Remix by Kenny Hayes, Something for Everyonw.

While Track 2 is a straightforward full vocal house mix of the Tears for Fears classic, with even the melody resung at times and altered from the original to mix things up a bit, the real stand out here is the Open Air extended mix, a trancy electro house mix that takes the song to a whole new level. The last track is a really bland soft house mix. Stick with track 2 and 4 and you'll be set.

This effort is a decent cover. The Open Air mixes are by far the best versions on the single. However, it is important to note that the vocals are not Tears for Fears (for those who care). I've heard plenty of mash-up remixes and other DJ cover mixes that update old favorites, many of which include original vocals. This cover does not.
