Great for men who need to learn how to cook.,

Pictures, pictures, pictures. For those people that like to see the food before they attempt to make it this book is wonderful. Every page is like an ad trying to get you make the recipe. I'm very very visual and bored with food, this book has real recipies anybody can make. I wish the sections were more clearly divided but for the price it ain't bad and it won't make your head spin with 500 recipies that you''ll never look at, like the rest of my cookbooks gathering dust on the shelf.

I'm afraid I don't agree with the previous negative assessment of this book. I have been watching for a recipe collection for family meals that includes healthy, interesting choices using fresh ingredients and recipes that are not too difficult to put together in a hurry. This is it. Perhaps a more descriptive and less generic title would have been "On Beyond Meatloaf." Certainly the recipes contained are a little more difficult to put together than meatloaf or spaghetti, but I would not place them out of the "easy, everyday" category. Cooking with fresh ingredients will naturally take a little more time than the semi-homemade" choices available, but it is worth the few extra minutes in terms of nutrition and taste. Eash recipe is printed on a full page with big, color pictures and easy to follow instructions. I have already tried several of the recipes and they are all winners. Better Homes and Gardens comes through again with a stellar product! I intend to also purchase More Easy Everyday Cooking.

NOT easy and NOT everyday.,

I am always on the outlook to purchase cookbooks that help me get dinner on the table quickly, easily but still nutritiously. I was really excited to get this cookbook because BH&G is a solid name and so I knew the recipes included would be EASY and EVERYDAY, basically dinners I could get on the table in no time.
Well, this cookbook is absolutely not like that. It's not easy and it's certainly not everyday recipes. I'm not saying the recipes are bad, they have all been tested in the BH&G test kitchen. What I'm saying is this cookbook does not deliver on what it's suppose to deliver on. One recipe takes 2.5 hours of cooking a rump roast before you can then assemble dinner. How is that easy and everyday? How would I make that after work? The whole premise of this cookbook is to help get dinner on the table easily and able to be done every day. That is not possible with this cookbook. Do not give as a gift, you would certainly be mislead. The Food Nanny Rescues Dinner: Easy Family Meals for Every Day of the Week is a much better cookbook if you're looking for both EASY and EVERYDAY. This cookbook should have been titled "Sunday Meals Made Simple." Because it is not EASY and it is not for EVERYDAY. There are also no menus suggestions to include the entree and side dish and perhaps even a dessert. If you're promising me a book that is easy and everyday then you'd provide that information and make this cookbook a truly valuable addition to the working parents kitchen. The pictures are good, there are 200 or so recipes that include appetizers, salads, soups, entrees, desserts. The whole promised premise of this cookbook did not deliver. If you're looking for actual easy and everyday cookbooks in addition to the Rescue Nanny cookbook mentioned above, check out: Betty Crocker's 1-2-3 Dinner: 350 Quick and Delicious Supper Solutions or Semi-Homemade Fast Fix Family Favorites (Sandra Lee Semi Homemade) both would be good choices. Their titles say it all.

I made copies of the only 3 recipes in the whole book that I would actually use and resold it. It just wasn't my type of cooking.

I couldn't wait to get this and then when I did, I was pretty disappointed. I have yet to find a recipe in this book that I am "dying" to try out. Save your money.

I think it's a good cookbook for anyone not looking for simple EVERYDAY recipes. My daughter used it and likes it but I was just looking for something else,
