Book Description

August 29, 2000
self-help - psychology book on the Enneagram personality system and how to use it in everyday life. Unlike most Enneagram titles which describe the nine personality types in detail, this book actually gives practical ways of using the system in everyday life - in the areas of self-development, work and business, intimate relationships, family relations, and as an adjunct to spiritual practice. Basic information is also provided to make this title suitable for newcomers to the Enneagram. Basically, this book helps the reader achieve BETTER WORK, BETTER LOVE, AND BETTER LIFE.

More About the Author

I've been writing since I could grasp a pencil in my chubby little fingers. I've been reading even longer.

My first published writing was a dreadful little poem that I wrote when I was ten. Still, it was mine. My next published writings, almost twenty years later, were in nursing journals and books on alternative healing.

In the past (seems like lifetimes ago) I was a critical care nurse and an Enneagram personality consultant. I love writing non-fiction because I couldn't begin to make up anything as weird and wonderful as life itself. Just sayin'...

I've written two books:  "The Everyday Enneagram, A Personality Map For Enhancing Your Work, Love, and Life....Everyday" and "Becoming A Menopause Goddess", an ebook available here in the Kindle store. It's about so much more than menopause; creating the second half of our lives, visioning, legacy, reimagining relationships with self and others. It's not my story alone but the combined wit and wisdom of our group of menopause goddesses who meet every year to share synergy. I'm proud to be our scribe. (A paperback version was previously released under the title "The Big M" - available at thebigmwebsite.com.)

A few years ago, I started blogging on these two topics, (menopause and the enneagram) having NO IDEA that I would love it so freaking much. I also blog on iPhone photographic art, combining a number of my passions in one place.

I'm currently working on a new book about moving to the unique culture of my adopted home in Moloka`i, Hawai`i; sort of a stranger-in-a-strange-land story. Whatever you may think, Moloka`i is not the U.S.A, passports and taxes notwithstanding. It's the nation of Hawai`i and I am a lucky expatriate indeed.

I hope to complete an e-book on iPhone photo art soon. Watch for it here on Amazon. In the meantime, I highly recommend my husband Dewitt Jones's e-book iPhone Art In My Life. Regardless whether you have a smart phone or take digital pictures, it's a spectacular celebration of the beauty in our world. Check it out.

I split my time between two paradises: Moloka`i Hawai`i and Lake Tahoe, Nevada. I live with my husband, 2 cats, and an old, sweet rescue dog. I love to hear from readers - you can write me at molokaigirl777@yahoo.com.

5.0 out of 5 stars Like an "owners manual" for the people in my life..., October 29, 2000
By
Maggie Bedrosian (Rockville, MD United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Everyday Enneagram (Hardcover)
This is a book of both scholarship and heart. The information lives and dances in reality as I see myself and family and friends on each page. What is so helpful is not just seeing us as we are, but how some of our confusions and conflicts are just our strengths bashing into each other. I started a list of all the people I'd like to give a copy to just so we can talk about our styles. I don't know where to stop!

5.0 out of 5 stars Making the Enneagram easy to understand and apply, December 20, 2000
By
annie raitt (Seattle, WA, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Everyday Enneagram (Hardcover)
I have read several books on the Enneagram and found Lynette's book to be the cleares tand best organized one yet. It is very easy to use and apply to both work and personal relationships. The Enneagram is a moving and evolving study and Lynette seems to have taken it to a new level of accessability with this book. Her mapping of the book is user friendly and consistant. I highly recommend it to both students of the Enneagram and new comers alike.

5.0 out of 5 stars A map to understanding self, others, and relationships!, September 10, 2001
By
This review is from: The Everyday Enneagram (Hardcover)
Enneagram (pronounced any-uh-gram) is an ancient means to discover self as well as understand and relate to others. Lynette Sheppard's new book, The Everyday Enneagram, is a practical tool, manual and guide about using this compelling information to work, love and live better.

Lynette takes the reader to a full understanding, indeed a map describing the motivations and worldview underlying behavior and traits. You will learn the nine basic personality types---and how we sometimes let our personalities run us. The Everyday Enneagram
then enables us to choose how to perceive or respond to a situation---so putting the power back into us.

The Everyday Enneagram has focussed chapters about how to best use these dramatic and life-changing concepts for personal growth and self-mastery, relationships, family, workplace and, yes, establishing a higher consciousness. Now we can ask, "Who am I
beyond this personality? Who am I without this protective cover or these filters?" In other words, making sense of our existence and therefore our relationship not only with people, but also with the Divine. "Enneagram theory espouses that we all came from Essence. In the beginning, each of us contained the potential of all nine points equally within. We are all one."

In this reviewer's opinion, the overriding beauty and benefit of The Everyday Enneagram is its map back to the Essence---and remembering our infinite, unbounded self. Educator and author Lynette Sheppard is the cartographer who can put you on the
road to enlightenment!
