Book Description

It's all about that second chance...

Not Your Everyday Housewife is Book Five of That Second Chance Series. (These are standalone books tied together by a common theme - belief in the beauty of that second chance.)
A wise and humorous tale of living large after 40 as women finally make peace with themselves- wrinkles, blubber, neuroses, exes, and all.

Three women embark on a month long 'discovery' journey and uncover quite a few tidbits along the way...one bottle of Clairol Midnight will not cover a full head of red hair, and never talk to men wearing polyester pants hiked up with a tan belt. But most of what they unearth is about themselves--who they are, what they really want, what they really DON'T want. The center of controversy is a Maid-for-You mixer which symbolizes a boring, routine suburban life with NO second chances--then along comes insight in the form of Tula Rae, a sixty-something Salsa dancing, Dalai Lama quoting, four time widow in spandex and a gray braid who gives them a different perspective on life, love, do-overs and the real reason a man buys his woman a Maid-for-You mixer, (which she says is all about S-E-X.)

That Second Chance Series:
Book One: Pulling Home
Book Two: The Way They Were
Book Three: Simple Riches
Book Four: Paradise Found
Book Five: Not Your Everyday Housewife

Editorial Reviews

Review

"Desperate Housewives meets Thelma and Louise Plus One in NOT YOUR EVERYDAY HOUSEWIFE. The question is, will the characters end in a pouf of quirky chaos like the ladies of Wisteria Lane or end up driving off an emotional cliff like the famous movie heroines?"

"Not Your Everyday Housewife is not your ordinary romance."

Suzie Housley, Midwest Book Review

From the Inside Flap

Cyn Cintar's life was a mess.
There was the before - before she lied to her husband, before she deceived her children, before she became an imposter in her own life.
And then there was the after.
She tried to pretend the second part never happened but there it was, trapped in her brain for the past five months by a six digit password comprised of her wedding day and year. How ironic was that?

5.0 out of 5 stars Suzie Housley, Midwest Book Review December 5, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
Life has a way to not turn out as you anticipated it. Three women embark on a journey to escape their own lives. Will their escape be enough to deal with life's hardships?

Cyn Cintar feels as though her family takes her for granted. She is battling feelings of being a middle aged woman. She finds her restless spirit wants to break free of her routine lifestyle.

Money has never been an object for Derry Rohan; she has lived a life to the fullest. When she learned that she was unable to conceive a child, her and her husband Alec adopts a boy named Charlie. When Derry learns that Alec is Charlie's father she feels betrayed; she questions how she will ever be able to trust him again.

Shea Donovan is a nurse who is the primary bread winner of her family. Her kids are grown and are away at college. Her husband's real estate career is almost nonexistence. To complicate matters Shea finds out that she is pregnant.

Cyn, Derry, and Shea know they need a break away from their hectic lives. They decide to take a month long vacation together to rejuvenate their spirit. Will the vacation provide enough rest and relaxation they all need to be able to go back to their own lives and deal with their own problems?

Mary Campisi has written an award winning novel in Not Your Everyday Housewife. From page one you gain an immediate attraction to all of her delightful characters. What makes this book so special is how easy it is for a person to relate to the characters problems. Not Your Everyday Housewife is not your ordinary romance. This book presents three strong plots that are all tied together by a close friendship. It shows how a true friendship has the ability to weathers even the toughest storm.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful uplifting read April 15, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Not Your Everyday Housewife is a story that tells of three forty-something women and their lives. They embark on a month long vacation from their families to rediscover themselves. They end up staying with a quirky lady who would become a very good friend and mentor to them all. They do discover themselves, and of course, the story has a happy ending. Each of the characters had wonderful development, with none being outshone by any other. They each faced difficulties that all women are familiar with, and each found her own solution. I found it very refreshing that the female and male characters were treated as equals, there were no stereotypical bodice-ripping perfectly built specimens who came in and saved the day. I would definitely recommend this book and this author. I look forward to seeing more from her!

This was an enjoyable book to read. A romance novel that was an easy read with twists and turns that were somewhat believeable. A grown up fairy tale that wasn't out of this world.

I must say that I truly enjoyed this book. I read the negative reviews, but I decided to give it a try anyway. I simply do not agree with the negative reviews. I found the characters and story all compelling. I finished this in less than 24 hours...that's how hooked it had me. I had to find out what would happen next.

The gist of this book was to show that you can change your life. Although I did find some of the characters to be engaging, to me this is a "just ok" story

More About the Author

A woman once told me my stories will pull you apart and put you back together, but never in quite the same way. I should've known I'd become a writer when at age thirteen I began changing the ending to all the books I read. It took several years and a number of jobs, including registered nurse, receptionist in a swanky hair salon, accounts payable clerk, and practice manager in an OB/GYN office, for me to rediscover writing.

It all began on a brisk Ohio morning at the hands of a 286 computer, a failing marriage, and three daughters under the age of five. Writing proved wonderful (and inexpensive) therapy as I let my fingers and my bruised heart begin a tender love story where the hero and heroine surpass incredible obstacles in search of true happiness and eternal love. But the story was only 100 pages complete when I packed it away and moved with my children to a little rental bungalow where I took on the challenge of single motherhood and re-entering the work force. The 5 ¼" floppy disk containing the love story remained sandwiched between Lotus and PacMan until years later, when I discovered it while unpacking boxes for the home I shared with my new husband, three children, and two stepchildren.

I powered up the old 286 computer, popped in the disk, and spent the rest of the afternoon re-reading the story and mapping out my future as a writer. Since then I've written and published several books. When I'm not writing or following the lives of five "almost" adult to young adult children, I'm digging in the dirt with my flowers and herbs, cooking, reading, walking our rescue lab mix, Cooper, or on the perfect day, riding off into the sunset with my very own "hero" husband on his Electra Glide Classic aka Harley.
