The author of Everyday Karma is one of the great psychics of our time, a veritable “karmic counselor” whose gifts have enabled her to help presidents, first ladies, Wall Street executives, royalty, and Hollywood celebrities achieve their true destinies. She predicted the collapse of the Soviet Union, John Kennedy Jr.’s death, President Clinton’s impeachment, and major karmic events around the world with better than 90 percent accuracy.
Now, in Everyday Karma, she invites you to embark upon a journey of healing and enlightenment–and to start living the life that is yours alone. Through her own spiritual biography (beginning with a near-death experience when she was young), true stories from many of her clients, and her predictions of coming events, you’ll be inspired to initiate your own spiritual evolution. With powerful, specially created meditations, prayers, and visualizations, she helps you resolve your specific problems, even deeply ingrained and self-destructive ways of thinking and behaving.
Unique among books about spiritual growth and healing, Everyday Karma emphasizes the great power of the karmic energy within you that is waiting to be tapped–and tells you exactly how to set it free, including how to
Enter the invisible world of spirit and light Hear messages from your spirit guide Create karmic relationships Heal karmic wounds and improve your emotional and physical health Discover your karmic life purpose Bring fresh, positive, and balanced energy into your everyday world
Most of us live our entire lives with, at best, a vague sense of dissatisfaction that even great fame and wealth seem unable to dispel. This book shows you another way. The lessons that Carmen Harra learned from the invisible world and shares with you here will light your path to a transformed and deeply fulfilled life in the visible world, starting here and now.
Telling readers to "forget everything you think you know about psychics," self-described "metaphysical intuitive" Harra combines her gift to communicate with the "Invisible World" (honed after nearly drowning in a Romanian river at age five) with lessons she's gleaned as a licensed hypnotherapist, astrologist, numerologist and Kabbalah expert. Juxtaposing her casual, friendly writing style and positive tone against a highly structured framework, Harra, who's consulted with presidents, Hollywood celebrities and European royalty, provides thorough explanations on the levels of karma (past, present and accumulated), types of karma (individual, family and group) and a 10-step Karmic Resolution Method meant to develop the self-awareness needed to "project your own happy future." The tips on communicating with one's spirit guide, rules for a happy marriage and exercises meant to clarify one's true purpose, attract a soul mate and eliminate addictive patterns from one's life do lend an interactive feeling. However, Harra's heavy reliance on anecdotal evidence and her predictions section (where she shows that, for example, she knew "Clinton would almost be ousted from office" and later "disappear into civilian life") come off as self-congratulatory and may leave skeptics wondering if she's only the latest to capitalize on the ever-growing American appetite for occultism. From Library Journal
A native of Romania, certified hypnotherapist Harra claims to have received her psychic abilities after nearly drowning when she was five. Following a lot of talk about spirit guides and seances, she serves up what amounts to cognitive-behavioral techniques (similar to what Joy Browne did in Getting Unstuck). In that sense, the title is a bit misleading-karma, the Indian philosophy in which an individual's past actions influence her future lives, gets short shrift. However, because Harra encompasses many perspectives and ultimately aims to help her audience achieve happiness, readers may not notice or care. Her coverage of breathing/ relaxation/meditation techniques is hurried (Richard Craze's Teach Yourself Relaxation or Martha Davis's The Relaxation & Stress Reduction Workbook are better treatments), but this is still an encouraging guide. Born in a northern region of Romania known as Transylvania, Carmen Harra began dreaming of the world outside her small village from a very young age. At just five years old, she nearly drowned in a river near her home before being rescued by her father. But the ill-fated experience actually blessed her with an extraordinary gift which she would use to help thousands of others. While being resuscitated, Carmen recalls travelling through a tunnel of white light, and emerging into a picturesque world of beautiful landscapes, familiar faces that had passed on, and serene music before she was reeled back to earthly reality. She was convinced she had broken through the dimension which grounds us all to one reality; she knew she had experienced the other side. As a little girl, Carmen would gaze up at her father and state with determination: "I'm going to go far, I'm going to sing and one day leave this country." Mistaking her intuitive gift for childish imagination, her parents would laugh off her bold declarations, her larger-than-life predictions. It wasn't until the age of 9, when Carmen accurately predicted that Nicolae Ceausescu will become president, that her parents began to believe in her abilities.
As early as 11 years, Carmen began entering and consistently winning singing competitions. She knew that her singing career would become her saving grace, her escape from the little town with no running water and no chance for progress. She quickly rose to fame, appearing first on Romanian national television and then touring all throughout Europe, and released twelve albums which all became instant hits. All the while, Carmen remained fascinated with the remarkable ability of the mind to transcend linear time and foresee the future, the ancient teachings of Kabbalah, and the mesmerizing science of numerology. She was also greatly captivated by the possibility of communicating with those who have passed on. Although fully immersed in her singing career, she began educating herself on these ancient teachings and paranormal topics and exercising more and more her ability to break linear time. Carmen also decided to extend her education and graduated Babes-Bolyai with a degree in philosophy and one in philology. But in her twenties, Carmen suffered a devastating loss as her father passed away. While attending his funeral, Carmen received a critical message from her father's spirit, who assured her that she would indeed leave Romania permanently and that she would meet her future husband immediately after arriving in the new country. The man's name, continued Carmen's father, was printed on the tombstone behind his own. She peeked behind her father's grave, and saw the name Virgil imprinted into the stone.
Carmen was first invited to visit America on a singing contract, but she knew she was destined to stay for the rest of her life. One of the destinations outlined in her contract included a restaurant where she was to perform. As soon as Carmen entered the restaurant, the owner walked up to her and introduced himself as Virgil. The two were inseparable from that moment.
Carmen began contemplating what career to pursue in America. Although never intending initially to work in the fields of psychology or intuitive counseling, Carmen could not help but tell people what she saw in their futures and offer guidance. She decided to trust her own intuition and utilize the gift that came to her naturally, and began offering sessions as an intuitive counselor. She also opted to expand her metaphysical skills by attending Albert University and earning a Ph.D. in Hypnosis and Alternative Healing. Carmen knew that she could better service her clients by combining her intuitive abilities with knowledge of cognitive therapy. Thus, in addition to her previous degrees, she attained a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and began to write her first book, Everyday Karma, which has been translated in 18 different languages and sold all over the globe.
Carmen began to branch out and meet influential people as her career in America steadily progressed. Candice Bergen was among the first to request a session with the rising therapist. Around the same time, Carmen met Denise Rich (wife of billionaire Mark Rich), Courtney Cox, Senator Warner and his daughter, Linda and Jennifer Lopez, and Lauren Bessette (Kennedy's wife's sister). She also began appearing on TV: Carmen's early television appearances include Fox News, NBC's Let's Talk with Dorie Klissas, Good Day New York, and many more.
As an intuitive counselor, Carmen has made countless successful predictions both privately and publicly. Among her most renowned predictions are:
*The third world war will take place in the Middle East in the coming years (Good Day New York, 01/99), *We will eliminate Saddam Hussein (Good Day New York, 01/99), *We will discover water on Mars (Good Day New York, 01/99), *We will never find Osama bin Laden (Channel 11 Morning News, 11/02), *Al Gore will win the presidency but will not take office (Channel 11 Morning News, 08/00), *Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston will split (Channel 11 Morning News, 08/00), *Hillary Clinton will run in 2008 against a Republican woman (Sarah Palin), much younger than her, totally unknown at that point (Daily News, 2003), *A man of around 40 years, tall, with light features (Rafael Correa) will become president of Ecuador (America Vive, 10/04), *Barack Obama will become president of the United States but will have a very hard time in the White House and will not run for a second term (The View, 10/08), *2010 will be the year of earthquakes and the year will begin with a huge earthquake of 7.0 magnitude (Fox News and Channel 11, January 6th and 8th, 2010, respectively), *Republicans will win Congress and the economy will get worse (Nightly News with Chuck Scarborough, 05/10). She has been featured in numerous publications such as: the New York Times, New York Post, New York Daily News, Vogue, New York Magazine, US Weekly, V Magazine, Elle Magazine, and many more. She has appeared on the following TV programs: Good Morning America, The View, Fox News, The Today Show, The CBS Early Show, What's the Buzz on ABC, Telemundo, America Vive, Channel 11 Morning Show, Good Day New York, NBC 10, The Strategy Room, BetterTV, NBC Tampa Morning Show, NBC Miami Morning Show, ABC Jacksonville Morning Show, New York Nightly News with Chuck Scarborough, Channel 6 in Paris, QVC (with her own jewelry line), Happy Hour on ProTV International, etc. She was also given her own TV show on ProTV International, called "Happy Hour Special with Carmen Harra." She has been featured on QVC since 2003 and is currently working on a new jewelry line.
Carmen Harra is the author of six books: Everyday Karma, Decoding Your Destiny, Signs, Symbols and Secrets, The Trinity of Health, The Eleven Principles, and Wholiness. Despite the shift in her career, Carmen has released 3 CDS with her music in America, all produced and recorded by Keith Lentin.
Over the last six years, Carmen has hosted her own radio shows on Sirius Satellite, HealthyLife Network, and Contact Talk Radio. Dr. Harra has also been featured on Barbara Walters' radio show. She has been fortunate to meet (and even coach some) members of the elite Hollywood circle and influential political figures, including Hillary Clinton, Bill Clinton, Barbara Walters, Joy Behar, Elisabeth Hasslehoff, Nancy Pelosi, Candice Bergen, Jennifer Lopez, Whoopi Goldberg, Ben Affleck, Liza Minnelli, Kathy Najimi, Caroline Rhea, Jerry Springer, Denise Rich, Courtney Cox, Senator Warner, etc.

This review is from: Everyday Karma: A Renowned Psychic Shows You How to Change Your Life by Changing Your Karma (Hardcover)
I am an avid reader. Much of what I read relates to Personal Development and Spirituality. With each book I read I feel as though I grow. With Everyday Karma, not only did I grow, but I felt the book was so empowering and impactual that the world and people around me changed. Well, of course maybe they didn't change, but I think my perspective and the way I handle things changed so much that it gives the illusion of the world around me changing for the better. Since I have completed the book I have recommeded it to everyone, no matter "where they are" in their lives. I knew this book could inspire them. I knew they would benefit and appreciate the positive energy that comes from the goodness of Carmen's heart. With my recommendations I have watched others transform their lives also. Carmen is doing the world a wonderful service by sharing her works and wisdom in Everyday Karma. Now, more than ever, I think EVERYONE should read this book and use it as their strength, guide and inspiration through life.

Some authors excel in putting together pieces of quotable and notable metaphysical information from other sources in an attractive way that is easy to comprehend, but Carmen Harra is different. Besides her gift of prophecy and healing, she is able to write from within the realms of authentic experience. Her story is a stern and riveting account that makes it a delightful read for the coming season. The climax of the book isn't really the predictions that she makes for the future (she is known to have a 93% accuracy) in the last chapter, but rather the experiential exercises that she offers to elevate us from the "believeing" state to a state of "knowing". This is yet another path to exploring the often elusive wisdom that lies within, one that I believe can only be discovered through experience, rather than knowledge or understanding. I considered giving it a 5-star rating, but have yet to experiment with her elegantly described Karmic Resolution Method.

I tend to avoid self help books that encourage you to microscopically examine your problems, behavior, parents, and life in general. Everyday Karma was so different in that you begin wherever you are with whatever you can. Even if you can't see the light at the end of the tunnel, you will bee sparked by this insightful book. I will not discard, donate or loan out my copy. I will however keep it close by to read again, recommend it to friends and give it as a gift.
