Product Description

Written shortly after the author experienced a nervous breakdown (partly, he claims, due to the experiences portrayed in this novel), Everyday Madness has been dubbed a "Mostly True Story." It straddles the lines between fiction and reality, leaving the reader asking, "Could this possibly be real?"

Author's Note:

This is an electronic edition of my first novel. Although the novel itself is copyrighted and has been assigned an ISBN, I’ve decided to offer the electronic versions for free. You may send this to your friends, print it, pass it around, upload it to torrents, share it at will. All that I ask is that you don’t remove my name from it or edit the contents. There’s no practical way I can enforce that request, so I’m simply asking in good faith.

Why am I offering my novel for free? Well, I’m at a point in my life that I find myself not needing much money. No, I am not rich, nor wealthy. By Western standards I am exceedingly poor. But I have a place to live and food to eat. I could charge for this novel, make a profit, then spend the money on things I don’t really need, but I’d rather just give it away. I am suggesting that, if you enjoy this novel and have a little extra money, you consider donating an amount of your choosing to one of the charitable organizations I support. The organizations are listed on my website, http://matthewmalone.co.cc.

So enjoy the book ( I think it’s pretty funny ) and consider donating.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Unique Read, July 28, 2010
This review is from: Everyday Madness (Kindle Edition)
This story blew me away. I can't remeber the last time I read anything so honest or brutal. Definitely not for the fainthearted. There are so many things I could say about this book but I'd be here for hours and end up ruining it for the next reader who comes along. I'll just call it a Catcher in the Rye for adults and leave it at that.

Buy it, give a donation, download it, whatever. But read it. You wont be disappointed.

4.0 out of 5 stars Perspective, September 3, 2008
This review is from: Everyday Madness (Kindle Edition)
Drugs, madness, existential crises, random violence, and an oddly likable main character are the framework for this work. It's hard to know what's real here and what isn't, and in the end that isn't important. Readers of works such as Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, and the Bell Jar will have little trouble understanding this novel. The author has some things to say about the inhuman condition and he says them in an assured manner. The pacing is solid as the narrative moves from sordid to grisly to pathetic and back again repeatedly without flinching. The episodes of human tenderness only serve to highlight the strangeness. Gallows humor garnishes the whole. Recommended for the exceptional quality of the writing, the honesty of reportage, and for the superior antihero treatment.
