One of the best witchcraft books published in ages!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Everyday Wicca: Magickal Spells Throughout the Year (Citadel Library of the Mystic Arts) (Paperback)
I'm glad I never let book reviewers dictate to me what I should or should not read, otherwise I might have overlooked this wonderful book by Gerina Dunwich. The author is enchanting in the way that she writes, and her incantations are very poetic and beautiful. She possesses much wisdom where herbs, pagan deities and occult history are concerned, and she shares it with her readers in a way that is pleasant and easy to comprehend. My only "gripe" with this book was that it did not contain spells for everyday of the year, as the title implied. But the wealth of information this book offered made it, in my humble opinion, one of the best witchcraft books published in ages!

Great for Beginners like Me!,

After ordering several books at Amazon, I found this book to be the least wordy, easy to comprehend, and quite amusing at times. I actually read the online reviews and after reading the book for myself, I am glad I didnt listen to those other reviews. Ms. Dunwich uses illustrations, spells, and includes a glossary(Thanks!)to help you understand the rituals and spells. She has definitely helped me with my understanding of Wicca. I hope that other readers will purchase her book and see for themselves. I definitely recommend you buy this book!

it's a typical Gerina Dunwich book. There are a few good spells and some useful info. It is one of her better books. I think she is running out of ideas for books.

As with most of Dunwich's books they are great for the beginner but let alone almost but not yet worthless for the "intermediate to advanced" witch. Her correspondence charts are a must for those though who do already keep a few just in case. Although SOME of the wording may make a person who just started witchcraft annoyed she keeps a handy glossary on hand for those little few words.P.S. If not buy it for the spells buy it for the nice poetry she includes and some of the rituals given. Handy for the days of the "Old" gods. It is a good book to have on hand though.

This is a good book for a beginner, which I am. It was the second book on the subject that I have gotten. Some of it confused me, because I didn't know all the vocabulary, but on the whole it was very informative. Good for someone who doesn't know much about it, which I don't.

This book told me all the things I needed to know about starting witchcraft. I have successfully completed some of the spells with a few of my friends.

Not Impressed.,

I am not impressed with the way she is constantly talking about "white light" and "white magick". We all know that magick is neither white nor black nor grey, it just *is*. She mentions several names of deities who are very unfamiliar, and never once explains who they are, where they come from, etc. Confusing, that. And the illustrations seem to be straight out of the Malleus Maleficarum! She gives rituals to do throughout the year, but doesn't make a distinction between actual Sabbats and days that are important to "many witches". These "many witches" are never given names or traditions, and these extra days are nothing I have ever heard of, and I have read many many books on Wicca that should have included these days, if they were so all-fired important. The "poetry" is lacking something to me, it seems mechanical, almost. She says that "traditionally" this is used, or that is said or that happens, but never mentions what tradition, and most of these "traditional" things are again, things I have never heard of! I just don't understand this book...

I've found some better ideas myself to do daily. I really didn't care much for this book, it bored me. I wouldn't recommend it as a beginning book, it's more of a resource than anything.
