Book Description

January 27, 2009
John Wimber wasn't interested in religion -- he was interested in a relationship with Jesus and discovering how that impacted the way he lived his life and the people with whom he shared his life. He viewed community as a great opportunity to put into practice the teachings of Jesus and felt following Jesus wasn't a spectator sport. In Everyone Gets to Play, Wimber's writings and teachings on life together in Christ drives home the importance of one of his favorite sayings and shares some of his ideas on what that can look like. From taking risks to prayer to leading others, Wimber s skillfully penned words from his writings and teachings still resonate powerfully today.

Editorial Reviews

Review

He would probably say he was ill-qualified for all that he accomplished, but in some ways that's what qualified him. He was never impressed with himself or his pedigree. He knew that anything good that happened in his life was entirely God. That's what makes this book such a treasure. It gives us an unusual look into the mind of a signs-and-wonders man. It reveals his priorities for daily living and his quest for God. It shows where his heart ached the most and what really brought him joy. From the issues of family life and marriage, to the importance of faithfulness in life and ministry, this book speaks to the practical side of life. It is a must read. It is refreshing to see inside the heart and mind of a true revivalist. John Wimber was a man who wanted to be like Jesus more than anything else. All the rest be it miracles or public criticism came with this ultimate quest. ---- Bill Johnson, Bethel Church, Senior Pastor

About the Author

5.0 out of 5 stars Everyone does get to play!, October 10, 2009

Wimber is one of my heroes. Not just the founder of the Vineyard movement which revolutionized the way many 'do' church, he was also a pretty astute theologian in his own right as well as a great communicator. Here, many of his most poignant writings on Christian community are gathered in one place. As Bill Johnson states in the description, it is "refreshing to see inside the heart of a true revivalist." With a forward from Wimber's daughter Christy, this is probably the best collection of Wimber's writings out there. We use it as both a 'recommended resource' for our church. It is also the book we give anyone who comes to our welcome lunch as we feel it represents the core of what we believe it means to be a disciple of Christ.

A fantastic book. Well worth the read, even if you're already familiar with Wimber.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good Book Bad Format, December 21, 2010

I really like reading John Wimber's writing. He is both spiritual and practical, and this book definitely continues that legacy.

However, the formatting for the Kindle leaves a lot to be desired. Paragraphs are broken, there are pages with one sentence or nothing on it, and many words are randomly hyphenated.

All in all, it is still a good book...you just have to overcome the layout issues in Kindle.
