Experiments in style mostly please...,
By Jim Slanski "Reader" (New York) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Everyone I Know Lives on Roads (Paperback)
I'm on the fence about this one. Trevor Dodge is clearly VERY talented and bright, and these stories earn high marks for taking LOTS of chances with style and use of language. Maybe it's a tad too experimental at times. Some might find the work a bit clinical or chilly, with form winning out over function or style subsuming substance. Still, most of these tales repay any extra effort it takes to read them and they put McSweeney's "experimentations" to shame.
