This amusing introduction to fly-fishing is particularly useful to the complete beginner. In a large cartoon format, the Illustrated Guide starts with a bit of lore and then leaps right into late-20th-century gear, covering the basics of rods, reels, lines, waders, and the myriad other accoutrements of the sport. The authors also cover technique, from tying knots to casting and fly selection. The final pages are devoted to stream tactics, with big block letters exclaiming cardinal rules such as "Be Quiet!"
