The Everyperson's Guide is written so that the typical person can first understand Y2K and how it may affect them, and then have a game plan to prepare for it. The book is purposely short - but comprehensive and complete. Y2K may not require backyard bunkers and a year's worth of stockpiled food. It is, however, a real threat and therefore does require that the steps outlined in the book be taken.
