[...] ... I bought that course after watching it, I understood the books.

I owned these books for 4 years. They collected dust on the shelf because they were too hard to follow. I bought these books because my guitar teacher (at the time) suggested I buy them for him to teach me theory. I realized the classes were going no where fast and costing me too much money, so I quit before we even got off the first chapter of the Chord book (never touched the scales)

Well recently I came across the 32 hour DVD courses from [...] ... all I can say is WOW!

Get the course if you can. Don't waste your money on guitar teachers. You get 32 hours of a teacher (who really knows his #$%#) teaching you theory. The lessons flow together. I retained all the information. He made theory very easy to learn.

After I finished the 32 hours, I went back to the Everything about Scales and Everything about Chords books. They're great books now that I understand what he's talking about!

When I first bought this book, I had mainly focused my guitar playing on notes and had no inclination of how to transpose, or even know what key I was playing in! Since then, I've learned basic chord theory (constructing chords, why things are what they are) and have moved on to advanced chord theory. This is an excellently written book that makes learning chords and chord theory easy and fun!

I haven't finished the book yet, but it's got some great tips and teaches me theory which is the best so I can learn why things are happening. Great. It also shows a bunch of open chords which, if you're familiar with them and barre chords, is a gem (I hate barre chords) :). It seems to cover everything. Good buy. Glad I got it! Can't wait to finish it.

I bought the book "Everything About Guitar Chords "years ago. The Copyright was 1990. I don't know if all of the errors have been corrected in the book being offered here. I found 40 serious errors that caused me no end of frustration when I was trying to learn the Jazz chords section of this book. Fortunately I had several other books that had the correct information. I used this book to learn by correcting all of the mistakes in it. It actually worked out well for me, because by catching and correcting the mistakes I learned a lot more than I would have otherwise. I am sure that there are many more mistakes than the ones that I caught because I just glossed over the first parts of the book because I already knew most of it due to my having taken music and music theory lessons prior to purchasing this book.
For books that cover the same type of material as Everything About Guitar Chords, I would recommend books by the following authors: Ted Greene, Jerry Coker, Jamey Aebersold, and Mickey Baker as examples of authors who write very informative great books. Only the books by Ted Greene and Mickey Baker from the small list above are dedicated to guitar playing. There are of course a lot of other good books and authors out there. Of course there are now lots of DVD courses that are very good also.
The Everything About Guitar Chords book would have been an very good book if not for all of the time wasting and confusing errors in it. It covers a lot of important ground for a beginning guitarist, but there is no excuse for all of the mistakes in the book. I still have the book and was looking at it today when I decided to post this.
